La Blancapierre is a large family home in Calvados, Normandy and is centrally located for nearly all of Normandy's principle tourist attractions - not least of which all the D-day landing beaches, Bayeux, Mont St Michel and Caen. It has 4 large bedrooms sleeping up to 8, and comes with free wi-fi and English tv, plus a games room with pool table and table tennis, and its own private, small and above ground pool.
You enter the house via the hallway which leads into a large lounge with plenty of armchairs and sofas. In the lounge we have a English satellite tv system, and free wi-fi internet connection. There is a log burner in the lounge. To the other side of the hallway is the dining room with a table to sit up to 8. This also has a log burner. Off the dining room is a very large kitchen with lots of cupboard space, a large fridge/freezer, dishwasher, 6 burner gas hob, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and built-in electric oven. There is a washing machine in a separate barn for communal use. We hope to offer you everything you may need whilst on holiday.

We have 3 bedrooms and a bathroom, with a separate toilet. The first bedroom is a large double room, with 2 windows to the front. The other double room also facing to the front, and to one side, over looking the garden is the third bedroom with twin beds. The bathroom has a shower unit with a multi jet system, and a bath. The toilet is separate in its own room alongside the bathroom.
On the second floor:
There is just one very large bedroom which currently has just 2 single beds, but can have extra beds if required, making sleeping for up to 10.
Outside to the side of the house:
Is a large and very private garden, surrounded by high hedges. At the back of the garden is a wooden terrace covered with a roof, making it ideal for outside dining. The views from the garden and the terrace are stunning, as you can see from the photos. In the garden is the small above ground pool.
In the basement of the building alongside the gite:
A games room with a full size American pool table, plus table tennis and table/bar football.
La Blancapierre is a large family house ideal for family holidays. The house sits in 8 acres of farmland and you can exit the garden into a field of more than 3 acres which you are welcome to walk and play in. We look forward to welcoming you to France. The property is one mile from the village of St Martin des Bescaes that hosts a range of small shops, 2 bar and a market on Saturday morning. The larger town of Torigni sur Vire is 10 minutes away, with 3 supermarkets, plus excellent restaurants.
We have a full range of Tourist Information in the gite for you.

Plenty of armchairs and sofas, English tv, and free wi-fi.
2 Double rooms, and 2 twin rooms.
The bathroom has a bath and a separate shower. The toilet is separate to the bathroom.

Large and very private garden to the side and rear of the house, with a covered terrace for outside dining, and its own small above ground pool. The garden leads out onto open fields, which you are welcome to explore. The land extends to 8 acres in total.
We have 4 sheep, a pygmy goat and 8 chickens and guests are welcome to help us collect eggs and feed the animals.
Plenty of parking in the courtyard outside the gite.
With the games room ideal to keep the kids entertained after the day out, and the central location of this Gite, this location is great for families to explore all of Normandy. Most tourist attractions, including many Non D-Day related sites (Zoo's, parks and theme parks), are located within 45mins. All of the D-Day beaches are also within a 30minute drive and other superb expanses of sand and sea ideal for those kids and kids of heart.
This year we have taken advantage of the 8 acres the property is set in and introduced some livestock. We now have two sheep who had a lamb each in the Spring, 5 chickens and a very handsome cockerel. Families (and adults!) are welcome to meet the animals and help with feeding, watering and collecting eggs.
The property was once a farm and it is steeped in world war 2 history as it is situated on hill 309 on the edge of the old railway line where the allies fought the Germans in their bid to capture the village of St Martin des Besaces. There is a really interesting museum in the village detailing the activity in the area.
Having hit the grand old age of 50! we decided it was time to 'escape the rat race'' at the end of 2014 and came over to Normandy to search for our ideal home giving us the potential to become semi self sufficient and maintain an income. We fell in love with La Blancapierre on our first visit as we hope you will and the rest is history.

|Why this location?||La Blancapierre provides a restful retreat with spectacular views across the Vire Valley. Set in the heart of the tourist area of Normandy and located just off the A84 it gives easy access to the beaches, Bayeux, Caen, Mont Saint Michel etc.|
|Unique benefits of property||La Blancapierre is the original farmhouse for the estate and as such it provides a traditional French farmhouse accommodation with tiled floors and generous rooms. The property was involved in the battle of hill 309 during the D- Day landings and was bombed though I am pleased to say there is no evidence of that now!|
On the river Vire we would recommend a day trip down river by canoe. A family day out in stunning countryside- from Conde Sur Vire.
Normandy is of course famous as the site for the D-day landings. The hill on which the house stands is hill 309 site of a battle on 30th July 1944. In the village is a museum telling the story of what happened. We are a short drive from the D-day beaches, and you could spend a whole week just visiting the historic sites.
We can advise on all fresh water fishing, with places to fish, and baits etc. A guide is possible to get the most out of your stay.
The Bayeaux Tapestry is unmissable, as is a trip to Mont-St-Michel, less than an hour to the west. There is plenty for all the family in Normandy.
A large public lake is in Torigni, which has very good fishing, and in the summer has boats for hire. Next to the lake is a children’s playground, and an activity centre with thrills for older children.
The zoo at Jurques is only 5 miles away, and well worth a visit.
We loved every bit of our holiday; the accommodation was spacious, and comfortable, the garden large and private with a good size plunge pool. The owners were friendly and helpful. Our children, age 5,9,11 & 12 loved it; they were safe to roam at will, and did so. The property was a perfect country escape, with sheep, a goat and chickens. We were able to relax totally, and not worry about anything. We plan to go back next year. There was a games room with table tennis, a large ground chess set, Poole and table football etc Places to visit were all within an hour and a quarter. Beautiful countryside. This propert is a rustic property through and through- we loved the whole place. There was BBq and veranda. There are two properties to rent there, but the private gardens are totally away from each other- no one is looking over you. It was a rare situation of being bigger than the photos indicated! We are hoping to bring friends with us. A big thank you to the owners.
Very many thanks for your review and we so enjoyed your visit are so glad you enjoyed your holiday. We look forward to welcoming you back next year. Rgds to the kids.
Had a wonderful 2 week stay here. The location is amazing and the garden was fantastic for the boys. The village has everything you need and there is loads to do within a short drive. Ian and Cecilia are fantastic hosts and made us feel very welcome!
Thank you so much for your lovely review, we hope we may see you again in the future.
Had a wonderful 10 day stay in July. Welcome was great and had a pleasant night with the owners and other guests.
Thank you for your comments and we look forward to welcoming you back sometime.
Wonderful and very memorable family holiday. Ian and Cecilia couldn't have been more accommodating, and welcoming to us. They were great with the children too, getting them involved in collecting eggs from the chickens, feeding the lambs etc., There are loads of things to do and see that aren't far away. We particularly enjoy red the simulator at Dead Mans Corner museum near St Marie du Mont, and we look forward to returning to Normandy again in the future.
