Conde sur Noireau, Thursday mornings has food, clothes, garden plants and household items. Vire, Friday mornings, half an hour in a car, similar to the market in Conde, but larger. Flers, Saturday, 10km away. Similar in size and goods to Conde sur Noireau.
The Auberge at St Germain du Cricoult is 2 minute drive away, a favourite with several clients and well respected in the locality. La Licorne, 21 Avenue de Verdun. Au Bouquet de Saveurs, 4 Rie Dumont d'Urville.
Conde Sur Noireau has a swimming pool which is popular. At Clecy and Vire there are golf courses. Clecy also has a miniature steam railway. Thury Harcourt is popular with cyclists due to its 20km cycle path and is also popular with canoeists.
With just three in our party (two adults, one child) this two-bed gite felt very spacious. We used it as a base for a busy week of exploring Normandy so did not actually hang around there much. We found the location provided just the right balance of 'away from it all' but still with swift & easy access to the main road network.
Accommodation offers a practical combination of 'rustic charm' with all mod cons. Bare stone walls and wooden beams vs. modern kitchen, Wi-Fi and good mobile coverage. Just note: there are several steps between each room. The gite is on four levels - this adds to the charm but not for the less able. (Although as noted on the web site, the GF bedroom has direct, level, external access.)
Hosts are a pleasure to deal with.
If we are looking for a base in this area again this would be high on our list.
This is a very comfortable gite in a very peaceful and pretty setting. We would certainly make a return visit
