Valgosse is in a tranquil location and yet within easy reach of so many tourist destinations and also the North coast. It is the perfect spot for relaxing but with plenty to do it you feel like it.

Suisse Normandy is a superb walking area with a well signposted network of footpaths. There are also various circular footpaths leading from the cottage should you wish to just walk and not drive. A copy of the local map can be found in the Green Folder. Being keen walkers ourselves we have provided copies of the Randonnees en Suisse Normandy in the Green Folder. These are detailed circular maps ranging from 3k to 15 k all within a short drive of Thury Harcourt. Thury Harcourt is also now linked to the Green Route scheme for walking and cycling. It was completed during 2014 and you can now venture all the way to Caen and then across to the coast. The next phase to Clecy will be completed in 2016. A very exciting project.
We have just enjoyed a very relaxing week and although the property is remote it offers total peace and quiet. The location is ideally placed to explore a lovely part of Normandy that is rich in history. I would thoroughly recommend this gite for anyone who is looking for a relaxing but interesting holiday.
Great location, nice and clean, all you need to have a relaxing time away from mobile phones. internet and work. Great for walking, cycling and enjoying good food and wine.Would recommend this property.
So pleased that you enjoyed your holiday and thank you for your comments.
We stayed from July 23 to July 30 2016. Lovely rural cottage overlooking a field with horses, goats and some chickens. House was well presented and maintained. Ground floor is a kitchen with table for 6 and large log-burner. All utensils were supplied. On the first floor is the large double bedroom with separate toilet/shower room. On the second floor is a living room with sofa-bed and skylight window. It was great getting back each afternoon and cooking evening meal and sitting outside watching the animals/reading books.
Shirley, the owner, is easily contactable and was quick with replies to our emailed questions. She provided us with all the details we needed for the cottage.
We were on a motorbike, could only take clothes, so were fortunate that everything else we needed was supplied with the cottage.
Visited Mont St. Michel, Bayeux, Caen, Falaise and various WW2 beaches and sites. We would particularly recommend Falaise Castle and Bayeux tapestry. Very well presented.
The roads are amazingly quiet. Hardly see any cars until you get to a motorway.
If you want peace and quiet in the evenings then this a great cottage to stay. Thury Harcourt is about 6km's away with supermarket and petrol station. The Swiss Normandie route is picturesque and worth exploring.
