Convenient and relaxing cottage, well located for visiting the regional attractions being only 5 minutes drive from the main route, the A84, which gives access to Caen and beaches to the north, Mont St Michel and Rennes to the south. It is nestled in the peaceful countryside surrounded by fields and rolling hills along the border of Manche and Calvados in Lower Normandy.
Recently restored, St Michel Cottage is a rustic barn conversion ideally suited for two people (A couple, or two friends, and it is also suitable for a couple and one child). It is a cosy, clean and peaceful space with a country cottage feel and a simple style. Designed to help you unwind, it has a lovely terrace overlooking wonderful rural views where you can sit and enjoy nature.
The cottage is all on one level, open-plan with exposed old stone walls. The main door enters into a lounge area with corner kitchen. Off the main room to the left is a double bedroom. Off the main room to the right, and down one step, there is another room, which can serve as a second bedroom, or be used as an dressing area, although it has no direct window to the outside. There is a clean, compact bathroom consisting of new fittings of shower, washbasin & WC.
In order to provide an atmosphere of calm and relaxation we have opted to have a tv-free cottage, so you can enjoy the simpler pleasures of life such as chatting, playing games, watching nature and reading books. Of course you can bring your own computer and dvds/films to watch, or connect with the world via email etc. However should you want a complete break from the technological impositions of screens and buttons, this could be a welcome spot for you to escape for a few days!
Wi-fi is available, but we can turn it off should you wish.
The corner kitchen is fitted with a sink, gas hob, microwave, fridge, toaster, filter coffee maker.
The open plan living room is comfortable and looks out onto the countryside. It has a small sofa, easy chair and dining table.
Bedroom 1 - Double bed with new mattress, exposed stone walls, window to garden.
Bedroom 2 - Single bed. This has no window to the outside, and has an internal window (curtained).
Shower room with a new fitted shower, washbasin and toilet.
The cottage is detached, with its own private terrace and contained garden where you can while away the hours reading a good book out of the summer heat. Or maybe you can watch the wildlife and be lucky enough to spot the local eagle.
From the terrace there are lovely views across the local countryside. where you can sit and enjoy the birdsong as you sip a glass of wine, or maybe try the local Normandy cider or calvados. Afternoon tea in the garden with a cake from the patisserie or a medley of fruit from the local markets is another simple pleasure to be enjoyed...
Designed for couples or two friends/relatives who want a relaxing peaceful, holiday. Also suitable for a couple with one child. Please note the cottage is a TV-free space (however wi-fi is available).
The owners’ house is adjacent, but is quite separate and does not overlook the cottage. So you are assured privacy and peace for your stay. There is the advantage of having someone to hand in case you need assistance and we are happy to suggest things to do in the area should you wish.
Please note the cottage is a TV-free space (however wi-fi is available).

This a very basic gite but it was warm and peaceful, the English owners could not have been more accommodating. The scenery was wonderful with an amazing little village only a five minute drive away with a lovely patisserie. We loved the peace and tranquility this little charming and quaint gite offered, although basic in amenities it was full of charm.
We’re very glad that you had a fantastic break, and appreciated the area and the peacefulness of our cosy gite. Facilities (eg TV) are knowingly not provided in the cottage in order to encourage the opportunity to have a relaxing break and to enable you to return to the simple pleasures of life. Sorry you didn't benefit from the sofa which had been delayed, and arrived on the lorry you saw just as you were leaving. Again thanks for your kind comments, and we are very happy you benefited from the peace and relaxation this cottage can offer.
