Cosy Cottage With Bags Of Charm. This cottage/gite is in a rural setting.

Nelly's Gîte is a quaint two bedroom gîte in the heart of Calavados. You have a welcoming private driveway and large garden just for you.

The cottage is a converted barn and does have areas upstairs which have low beams, we have had lots of tall people stay and so far they have all enjoyed it.

Nelly's Gîte is perfectly placed to take in all that Normandy has to offer, with good access to the landing beaches, the historic sites of William the Conqueror, The Bayeaux Tapestry and many more tourist attractions. For food lovers you can enjoy the wonderful produce of local farmers, including cheese, cider and calvados.

Kitchen and dining

There is a small but well equipped fitted kitchen, with gas hob, small oven, microwave, coffee machine and washing machine.

Living rooms

There is a comfortably sized living area that is equipped with large flat screen tv, British Freeview and dvd player.

Bedrooms

Upstairs we have two lovely bedrooms.
One double with ornate wooden double bed and a well sized twin room overlooking the garden.
There is also an upstairs wc.

Bathrooms

There is a bathroom situated behind the kitchen with shower, toilet and wash basin.
There is also a wc upstairs between the two bedrooms.

Heating

There is a wood burner in the living area and electric heaters are also provided.

Entertainment

We have lots of books (English and French) and playing cards and board games and lots of dvds.

Garden and outside

There is plenty of garden to soak up the Normandy sun, relax and unwind.
With an outside firepit to toast marshmallows and sing songs, a boules pitch and lots of outside games provided for your use.
There is also a bbq.

Parking and garages

Nelly's Gîte has its own private entrance and driveway.

Visitor suitability

The cottage is a converted barn and does have areas upstairs which have low beams, we have had lots of tall people stay and so far they have all enjoyed it.
Unfortunately we are not able to offer disability access.

I (Andy) am an award winning songwriter, composer and producer. I write music for general release which is available on most digital download sites and has seen me in the top twenty of iTunes Charts and I also write for projects including, documentaries, theatre shows and feature films.
At Nelly's Gite, we want to offer more than just your normal holiday, I have a full studio set up, that allows me to record not only in the studio but also in the Gite too. So if you want to add something more than just your holiday, I offer the perfect set up to record demo's, help with production, or just to record that song you have always wanted to sing.
Prices vary from project to project and I am happy to give you a quote to suite your needs. We are perfectly situated to make the most of the quiet surroundings. We also encourage writers to our peaceful surroundings and Janet who is an award winning actress, can offer intensive workshops in preparation for auditions for drama schools.

About the Owner/Advertiser, Mr Andrew Oliver

My name is Andy Oliver and along with my wife Janet Bamford, we are the owners of Nelly's Gîte. Janet has been an actor since leaving drama school in the 90's and has toured theatre productions in the UK, Europe and the US and has worked in tv and independent films. I started acting in the 90's and met Janet on a show we did together. I now mainly focus on my music, which has taken me to some great places and I have had success in the charts and I work on documentaries and film scores.

Saint Pierre is an historic market town with supermarkets and restaurants which is home to the oldest market hall in Europe and each Monday has a large market selling local produce. On the first Sunday of each month the market hall hosts an antiques broc

Falaise

Falaise is a stunning town which is 20 minutes drive from the gite, it was home to William The Conqueror and has a great interactive tour round the castle with iPads that bring pictures to life and each summer hosts a medieval festival perfect for a fun family day out. The main square has some lovely cafes and restaurants and there is a brilliant swimming pool that has water slides wave machines and an outdoor pool with events running through the summer.

Livarot

Livarot is home to the famed Livarot cheese factory and has several supermarkets and restaurants.

Lisieux

Lisieux is just a short drive and is home to the stunning Basilica which has historical links to Saint Therese of Lisieux. It has direct links into Paris by train.It is also home to Cerza Zoo and has a vibrant music scene and plenty to see and do throughout the year.

Caen

Caen is a University city and is only 30 minutes by car, it has several large shopping areas and Pegasus bridge, the famed bridge of WW2, is found on the river banks

The Landing Beaches are readily accessible from our gîte and there are historical sites relating to WW11 at almost every turn.
