Great local restaurant

Chez Fanny is a delightful family-run restaurant situated in the heart of Pont d'Ouilly, the nearest small town to our cottage, just 3 kilometres away. It offers superb French cuisine at reasonable prices, featuring a number of traditional Norman dishes and specialities.

Fun for all the family

La Roche d'Oëtre is the second most popular tourist attraction in Normandy (after Le Mont St Michel) and one of the most visited in the entire country. This unique elevated site offers spectacular views over the Rouvre gorge and across the Norman countryside. Some of the best hiking, trekking and rock-climbing in the north of France is to be found here, with numerous established tracks and trails. Nearby there are horse-riding and tree-walking facilities, as well as a chlidren's playground, a decent restaurant/bar and a fully equipped Tourist Information centre. You can walk down the side of the valley to the river Rouvre, a tributary of the Orne, where fishing is allowed with a permit that can be bought locally.

Great bookshop

La Librairie du Conquérant in Falaise is a first-rate general bookshop that sells local maps and guides for the keen hiker or outdoor sports enthusiast. There is a big children's section, with books and magazines for kids of all ages.
