About this property

Family and Dog Friendly Property in Seaside Village. This cottage/gite is in a coastal setting.

Maison Mielles is a villa that was totally renovated in the summer of 2010. The house is a very comfortable family house, suitable for very large families or several families sharing. The house sleeps 12 very comfortably, and has a large enclosed private garden, good for running around and football.
There are 4 bedrooms with twin beds that can be converted into super king size beds if preferred and 2 other bedrooms, one with a queen size 140cm double bed and the other with a 160cm double bed. They are hotel quality beds which are extremely comfortable. There are also 2 wooden cot beds (under 2s).
The bedrooms are situated on both floors, which allows for some extra privacy. The 2 downstairs bedrooms both have the twin/super king option, with a bathroom and toilet shared between the 2 rooms. Upstairs are 2 bathrooms, one with bath and toilet, and one with a shower and a separate toilet.
There are also 2 highchairs, and we can provide potties, a baby bath, extra high chairs etc if needed. The house is also equipped with plastic plates, spoons and knives for children. My own children are 5 and 6, and so there is a good range of toys for the smalls, including a wendy house, and all the necessary buckets, spades and toys for the beach.
We also supply all the towels for the beach and house, all linens and a 10kg washing machine, 8kg drier and all the cleaning products. Our aim is that you should be able to travel as light as possible. There is a good selection of books and films in the house, both for adults and children, and Sky tv.
St Martin is a really fantastic place for children of all ages. There is an amazing range of activities for ages from 3+. At the bottom of the street is the sailing club, which also does sand yachting, kite surfing etc. Next to it is the golf course. In the other direction is the riding school. If you take the coast road to Granville, you pass another golf course and the airfield, where the brave can go parachute jumping or take a ULM flight over the bay of Mont St Michel.
There are also plenty of interesting and fun days out you can do. We only bought the house in May 2010, so as yet we haven't had the chance to do everything, but we all enjoyed the zoo, which is about 25 minutes away at Champrepus.
If any of your party wishes to bring dogs, we have 2 dog kennels and runs, and there are great walks in every direction. Because the house is on the edge of the village it is very quiet, and our neighbour a spa for horses, where the French International teams come and do their final preparation in July. Every morning from 6am to 9.30am, all summer long, you can go and watch the horses gallop along the beach through the surf.
This coastline has the largest tides in Europe, and when the tides are very high, you can go a couple of km up the coast and watch the salt marshes flood, which is impressive to see. The sea where we are is relatively shallow at all but high tide, and you can see the mussel beds rising out of the sea and eat really fresh mussels in the village restaurant. It also means it is a good place to learn to swim and when the tide is out you can stand in the sea and watch the fish swimming round you.

Farming mum of 4.

Year property purchased 2010
Why this location? Because its lovely, and it used to be our closest beach. After 15 years of going, I was looking for a house to rent for the summer and ended up buying one instead.
Unique benefits of property Its one of the few 6 bedroom properties in the village. The location is very quiet with direct access to dog walks just metres from the door. We also have a really good sized garden, and quick access to the sailing club and golf course.

e had a wonderful stay at Maison Mielles for Spring Bank Holiday Week Our family ranging in ages from 4 months to 70 years very much enjoyed staying in this wonderful and well equipped house and we must thank Polly for thinking of absolutely everything we would need. Every cupboard had something that you might need in it.Our little ones found the toys and games as soon as we got there and loved playing with them especially when they first got up in the morning. There were also lots of games for adults in case of bad weather but luckily we didnt need them. The house was light and airy with plenty of space with comfortable beds and furniture. We really felt it was home from home. We particularly liked the enclosed garden so that our little ones could play safely on the garden toys which they thorough ejoyed. The barbecue was used every night and we sat out long into the evening. The beach was beautiful and was a huge hit for everyone and within a short walking distance of the house too.We spent time there every day making sandcastles, collecting the most beautiful shells, paddling in the sea and of course sunbathing.Crepes and ice creams were readily available nearby. We had a celebration meal in Granville at the Pizzeria and they did beautiful fish dishes and steaks as well as pizzas. We would certainly love to stay here again. All you have to bring are clothes, toiletries, books and buy food when you are there. Thank you Polly for use of your lovely house.
