About the Owner/Advertiser, Mrs Nicole Neville

We bought Papillon 15 years ago and it has taken us 10 years to completely renovate leaving many original features. Many people thought we were mad but the result is amazing for us and love other people to experience it. We are a family of four and now have grand children who love to visit. Well worth all the effort.

Year property purchased 2001
Why this location? Beautiful location near Mont st Michel and beaches, lovely traditional area.
Unique benefits of property The main benefit is the peace and the view, which is outstanding. Papillon is a large property with plenty of space inside and out. Fruit trees, are also a big bonus at certain times of the year. Close to many wonderful places to visit. All in all a fabulous place to stay.

We stayed here in August and found it a lovely place to stay. The building itself has been thoughtfully renovated and has lots of charm whilst also feeling very modern. It is set in a large grassy garden with a variety of mature fruit trees both on site and near by. We were very lucky as the fruit was ripening during our stay so we made lots of desserts and have even spent an afternoon as a family making jam around the large kitchen table, enough to have brought home 9 jars full!

During our stay the weather was varied. Our first week was rather rainy and quite chilly, so we were able to make good use of the log burner in the living room and the well stocked wood shed outside, as well as having family pool tournaments and board game nights. During our second week, the weather was much warmer and we were very glad for the ceiling fans in all the bedrooms! The hammocks for the garden were also much enjoyed!

The local area is lovely. The Gite is in a quiet part of Normandy and there isn't much nearby so is peaceful with plenty of wildlife to be seen, yet is close enough to the town of Brecey for the supermarket and bakery. We had lovely countryside walks, and when the sun goes down, the stargazing is sensational! It is easy to get to the major historical destinations of Normandy such as the D-Day landing beaches and Mont St Michel, and there are some nice sandy beaches near Granville which are well worth a visit. We had a lovely holiday here and would go again!

Papillon is a beautifully spacious and characterful property set in the most tranquil and peaceful setting. It has plenty of room for a large family although there were just four of us staying. It has a huge lounge and log burner which leads straight into a large welcoming rustic kitchen. We loved using the pool table in the separate TV room and sitting outside in the sunshine on the sunbeds. Waking up and looking out over fields and listening to birdsong in the Normandy countryside was the best.
Papillon is only 10 minutes drive from the nearest market town Brecey and is in close reach to lovely places like Mont St Michel and Saint Malo. Love this place and wouldn't hesitate to highly recommend it and return.

Papillon is a large spacious property with loads of space for our party of 4 adults and 3 children. There are 3 large bedrooms, 2 large lounge areas and a good size kitchen and Dining area with a Range for cooking on. The property is clean and has everything to make your stay comfortable. The property is in a private rural location which is not overlooked by any other property. The children aged 11yrs, 9yrs and 4yrs spent hours and hours running around outside in the safe private garden away from the roads and no close neighbours to upset with noise. The garden has a Barbecue, lots of Garden furniture, Sun loungers and Hammocks for adults to laze in the sun. The leisure facilities are excellent with a Pool table, Table Tennis, Nintendo Wii, Large widescreen TV, DVD player and numerous outdoor sports and games..
The local town Brecey has 2 Supermarkets and you get the essentials everyday of the week. There are a couple of Bars and Restaurants and a market on Fridays. Avranche is a larger busier town and is only 20 minutes by car.
We enjoyed days out at Le Mont St Michel, Fougeres ( largest Medieval castle in Europe), a Zoo at Champreys, the Normandy landing beaches and numerous days Body Boarding at a beautiful sandy beach at Jullouville/Carolles and all were within easy reach.
The holiday was excellent and all had a great time. The most relaxing holiday you could ever want! Would definitely recommend and go again!!

This was a wonderful gite for our family of 6 to base ourselves to explore the beautiful region of Normandy. The property was even better than in the flesh than it appeared on the website. It was lovely and clean and very warm and cosy.
The owners Nicole and Mark were friendly and helpful and in contact regularly, right from the start.
Really close to Avranches and Mont Michel but also only just over an hour to the D-day landing beaches and the fantastic city of Bayeux.
The 4 boys loved the garden and games entertainment when we got back from our days out whereas we loved the log burner, cheese, cider and the complimentary wine!
Can't recommend this gite highly enough.

Steve,Katherine and boys.
