About the Owner, Mrs Nicole Neville

We bought Papillon 15 years ago and it has taken us 10 years to completely renovate leaving many original features. Many people thought we were mad but the result is amazing for us and love other people to experience it. We are a family of four and now have grand children who love to visit. Well worth all the effort.

Year property purchased 2001
Why this location? Beautiful location near Mont st Michel and beaches, lovely traditional area.
Unique benefits of property The main benefit is the peace and the view, which is outstanding. Papillon is a large property with plenty of space inside and out. Fruit trees, are also a big bonus at certain times of the year. Close to many wonderful places to visit. All in all a fabulous place to stay.

10 / 10 The Carlton family, Bristol, England 2 November, 2016

This was a wonderful gite for our family of 6 to base ourselves to explore the beautiful region of Normandy. The property was even better than in the flesh than it appeared on the website. It was lovely and clean and very warm and cosy.
The owners Nicole and Mark were friendly and helpful and in contact regularly, right from the start.
Really close to Avranches and Mont Michel but also only just over an hour to the D-day landing beaches and the fantastic city of Bayeux.
The 4 boys loved the garden and games entertainment when we got back from our days out whereas we loved the log burner, cheese, cider and the complimentary wine!
Can't recommend this gite highly enough.

Steve,Katherine and boys.

Had a fantastic break at papillon. Beautiful setting, very relaxing and peaceful. Accommodation was stunning and the owners had thought of everything needed to make our holiday complete. The property was full of character and charm but with all modern amenities. The local village had everything you need including fresh bread and pastries and good authentic restaurants. Nearby Mont st Michel is a must to visit with its quirky little streets and fantastic views. Papillon is definitely one not to be missed!! Will definitely be going again!

Perfect get away from it all stay. Beautiful home with excellent facilities. Lovely open plan design with plenty of room. The rooms are very spacious with a lovely log burner in the lounge. Good location for visiting key points of interest in Normandy - Mont St Michel, the Normandy beaches. Plenty of good restaurants and shops in the nearby towns and villages (Avranches and Brecey) offering a good standard of food and reasonable prices. A perfect place to stay, unwind and plan a delightful holiday in France. Would definitely recommend.

Quiet & Peaceful setting - Papillon is a really lovely 'retreat'. It is in a beautiful setting with lovely views all around the gite, yet near enough to Brecey where there is a market on Friday morning, the cheese and fish stalls are wonderful, and the staff very friendly. Good bakers in the square.
The gite is lovely, very tasteful. It was lovely to watch the bats flitting about at dawn and dusk and the visiting rabbit and the hares in the fields. There were blackberries in abundance (made a criumble!) apples and pears to pick too.
Plenty of pretty local villages to explore and larger places too like Vire & Avranches, Mont St Michell is not far away...take the horse-drawn carriage to the mount, particularly if it's a hot day.
We loved St Hilaire des Poeles, a pretty place with a Normandy furniture museum with beautiful pieces, and a nice variety of shops and places to eat.
Comfy beds in the double rooms, but put the later-nighters who want to play pool in the room above the games room ! and let the others get to sleep !
All in all we really enjoyed our holiday in this pretty gite. Thank you :)
