Sunset cottage is superbly situated in the delightful and peaceful surroundings of the Polders countryside - a beautiful, rural location in the centre of the Baie but with all modern facilities, supermarkets and restaurants close by and within easy reach. Mont St Michel is almost on the doorstep only 5 minutes by car - and the nearest beaches in Brittany are only 15 minutes by car. It has a large, open aspect, south west facing garden - perfect for sun-worshippers during the day and later for watching the sunsets and star gazing. Combine this with comfortable garden furniture, sun loungers and barbecue and you hardly need to move to have a totally relaxing holiday. If you are of a sporty nature there are walking, cycling and horse riding trails, kayaking, fishing (there are 3 rivers in close proximity) sand yachting (at Cherrieux our nearest beach 15km), micro-flights and a hippodrome for horse meetings (trotting and gallop).
Of particular interest are the organised walking and horse riding trails across the Baie which enable you to appreciate the Mont and the natural beauty of the Baie. Only 500 metres from the cottage is the start of the Digue de la Duchesse Anne - again, an off-road trail for walking, cycling and horse riding, stretching approx 25km along the coast to Benoit des Ondes.
For the children there is the lake at Feins (L'Etang du Boulet) 25 minutes by car - there is a man-made beach, water sports (catamaran, pedalos, kayaks, wind surfing), a walk trail around the lake (6kms) and play areas - ample parking and entry is free and it is extremely popular.
The nearest 18 hole golf course awaits you only 20 minutes away. Conveniently placed for trips to The Channel Islands (from St.Malo or Granville) and Paris. Our garden is directly on the Normandy/Brittany border and allows you to enjoy both regions at the same time.
Pontorson - only 5 mins. by car - has all amenities including Intermarche, Carrefour and Lidl supermarkets.
A welcome pack is included for our guests (tea, coffee, milk, fruit juice, bread and preserves) and a complimentary bottle of wine and soft drinks await you on your arrival.
No additional costs - all electricity and end of stay cleaning included in price.
English-speaking owners (second home) live in adjoining house but do not impose- if you require any information or personal help (emergencies etc.) we are on available 24 hours.

Ian is a retired Police Officer and Pat is a retired Research Scientist. Very friendly - see our reviews.

|Why this location?||A beautiful semi-rural location but within 5 minutes by car you have Mont St.Michel, Pontorson (with 3 large chain supermarkets, garages, shops, restaurants and all amenities), Beauvoir- our village and the one immediately before The Mont - plus access to the autoroute.
Within 40 minutes - or less - you have a choice of places to visit St.Malo, Dinan, Dinard, Granville, Cancale, Rennes, Dol de Bretagne, Avranches, Fougeres......somewhere different each day - with stunning Brittany beaches nearby - on your day off you can relax in the beautiful garden.
|Unique benefits of property||As your hosts we are on site if you wish to ask anything - if there is a problem with anything at the cottage it has our immediate attention. However, we do not infringe on your privacy - we are there when you want us and if you want us.|
Cancale - Sit and eat your fresh oysters either at the quayside or inside one of the upmarket restaurants specializing in seafood.
Dinan: A maze of narrow cobble-stoned streets and medieval buildings.
Dinard - a town founded during the Belle Epoque era - once quoted as being one of the finest seaside resorts in Europe. It boasts a casino and again, some great restaurants and shops.
Granville: An old town with a long history of sea-faring and piracy - the old walled part gives stunning views and the lower part is a traditional seaside resort - also has 2 beautiful beaches for swimming and sunbathing.
Mont St Michel: Entrance is free but there is a charge for the Abbey entrance. Also famous for it's phenomenally high spring and autumn equinox tides.
St Malo - The beautiful, old town is inside the ramparts and has many shops, brasseries and restaurants - many overspilling onto the terraces.
Property was fabulous - the owners have created a lovely holiday cottage and had obviously put a lot of thought and hard work into the interior and the garden. The house was immaculate throughout and very nicely decorated. The large spa shower with the spray jets was a lovely place to wind down after a cycle. The ishwasher and washing machine in the cottage are very handy. The hosts( although on site for any assistance) were discreet if you wanted alone time but were always friendly and willing to give advice on local sights, etc. We would recommend Sunset Cottage to couples and small families, and although 2 miles from local amenities, it is walkable (we did it, had lunch in Beauvoir & walked back) and bikes can be borrowed too. Lovely flat landscape to cycle around and the view from the cottage towards Mont St Michel is terrific. We had our dog with us and the property was perfect as it offered lots of options for walking and in general, dogs are welcome inside most bars, cafes and restaurants in France (jusk ask politely first). The property is ideally situated within a few miles of Mont St Michel, with Beauvoir and Pontorson for restaurants, bakers, etc. and within 40 minutes of many worthwhile visits, such as St Malo/Dinard, Dinan, Combourg, Cherruiex, Avranches, Fougeres, Carolles (to see the 'cabane vauban') and Cancale (oyster breeding area with fabulous emerald green sea on a sunny day). Forest at Villecartier (15 mins south of the house), near Trans Foret, is a lovely place to walk and has a boating lake and zip-wire play area through the trees (for the energetic!) We thoroughly recommend Sunset Cottage, its owners and this area of Brittany/Normandy which is absolutely beautiful.
lovely property set in peacefull suroundings. extremely clean. owners very helpfull. a lovely place for a holiday for both young and old. the welcome pack on arrival just put the icing on top of the cake after a long days travelling. no negative things to say.
My husband and I were over the moon with the accommodation, a really comfortable, clean and friendly place to stay. The house was very well stocked and beautifully restored. and we were short of nothing..
Nothing was too much trouble for them, they really bent over backwards for us with their advice on places to visit and eating places in the local area,
We found the surrounding countryside just stunning, we had some fantastic cycle rides, the area is vast and so lovely and flat and the French roads a dream to travel on. We felt very sad to leaving.
We would recommend Sunset Cottage to anyone...........
