La Grange is a 5 bedroom 17th century timber framed house, which has recently been refurbished to provide a comfortable family home, whilst retaining much of it's old world charm.
It is situated in its own private gardens amidst rolling Normandy countryside. A tranquil setting yet within easy reach of several delightful market towns, a host of sandy beaches, fishing, golf and watersports.
La Grange has a well equipped kitchen with an electric oven, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, microwave, coffee percolator and washing machine. There is also a table to seat 4 and a larger dining table available in the adjoining room.
A large downstairs living room provides comfortable seating for all and enjoys the benefit of a wood burning stove (wood provided between September and April). There is additional sitting area on the first floor which can also be used as a 5th bedroom if required.
Bedroom 1 has a king size bed. Bedroom 2 has two single beds . Bedroom 3 has 1 double bed (an additional single can be added if required). Bedroom 4 has 3 single beds . Bedroom 5 is a mezzanine where a double futon bed can be used. In addition there is a double bed settee in the lounge on the ground floor.
The downstairs bathroom has a full sized bath, wc and shower. The upstairs bathroom has a wc and shower.
A large wood burning stove in the lounge can heat the whole house (wood is provided in the rental price between the months of September and April). Each room is also equipped with an electric radiator, electricity use is included in the rental for the months of June, July and August but is charged at cost for other rental periods.
A tourist tax (taxe de sejour) is payable (for visitors over the age of 12) at the rate of 33 cents per person per night.

Ample parking for 4 cars.
Married in 1988 and have been living with my wife Michelle in this part of France since 2004.
|Year property purchased||2004|
|Why this location?||We love this part of France it is so peaceful and yet there are plenty of interesting places to visit.|
|Unique benefits of property||Peace and quiet but handily placed to visit the extensive Normandy coastline and historic medieval towns|
The stunning medieval cities of Rennes, St Malo, Dinan and the 'gateway to Brittany' Fougeres are all within an hour or so by car. So too is the Bayeaux Tapestry. Mont St Michel (the most popoular French tourist attraction outside of Paris) is 25 minutes by car.
There is a local water sports park for children, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, an aquarium, golf, fishing, canoeing, cycling, horse riding and, for the more adventurous, hang gliding. The ferries for the Channel Islands leave from the ports of St Malo or Granville and the crossing to Jersey takes just 1 1/4 hour by boat or 20 minutes by plane from the local airport in Dinard.
We were a family group of an 11 and 15 yr old, 2 couples and a dog. The setting was rural, perfect if you want a quiet getaway (wifi was excellent in the house so kids were happy). BBQ was good, we used it most nights and we used the pool on a couple of occasions with no problems. The house had enough hot water for all six of us to have showers each morning and the added bonus of a dishwasher and washing machine. Plenty of space for all of us and a nice setting for the week we were away, would definitely recommend La Grange.
We were about 15 mins from St Hilliard du Harcoert, a nice town with a big market on a Wednesday and a big le clerc supermarket. Ducy was about 10 mins away with a smaller carefour supermarket, a few shops and restaurants.
We were 30 mins from Mont St Michal, defiantly worth the visit, an hour from Bayeux and Rennes. Both are beautiful cities to see with lovely architecture, fascinating museums and nice places to eat.
St Malo was about 40 mins away, a walled port with cobbled streets, very pretty, lots of shops and cafe but with the added bonus of a beach as well.
The whole area is worth visiting and staying at La Grange is a good rural location complete with the sound of church bells as you eat outside. It is a 4-5 hr drive from the tunnel, but the roads are easy amd directions to the place not difficult to follow.
Would definitely recommend to anyone thinking of going to stay in this part of Normandy.
The photos of the property do not do it justice. We went as two families (4 adults and 5 children in total). We loved the rural setting and found so many things to do within half hour of the property (beach, local towns/market, theme park, mini waterfall) and a 40 minute drive away is st mont michel. We all had a lovely week and although the pool was a little cold to begin with, one 5 year old loved going in multiple times a day. The property itself is so well equipped with everything you need and we would definitely recommend it for a relaxing, peaceful holiday close enough to amenities. The owners are lovely and were always happy to answer any questions and advised on the best places to go.
Spent a week at La Grange with family. Lovely rural situation but close enough to towns, Mont Saint Michel etc. My 5 year old grandson loved the pool and bbq. Very relaxing holiday.
We had a lovely holiday at La Grange.
2 adults & 3 children... aged 13, 6 & 3.
Hosts Steve and Michelle were great, nothing was too much trouble.
The property was clean and very well maintained.
We made good use of swimming pool and used the barbecue most days.
We would have no hesitation in recommending this property to anyone.
Thanks for everything.
