Take a walk along the coastal path for some stunning views over towards Alderney from the rugged cliffs. Refreshments available at Gorey and other cafes/restaurants en route.
Take a tour of the castle gardens, located in the village, and choose some plants to take home, or just enjoy a cup of tea or glass of beer in the pretty tea shop.
A traditional farmer's market held every Friday, with something for everyone. Enjoy a drink at one of the cafes and watch the world go by. Buy barbecued ribs from the stalls and drive down to the beach for an al fresco lunch.
Met by the 'femme de menage' - a delightful lady who showed us round and explained how everything worked.
The property was very clean and well maintained, and the owner was able to help very quickly when there was a minor problem.
There are lovely views from one of the bedrooms upstairs, and the beach was literally just down the road, with very easy access to the miles of glorious sand!
Sadly there is no boulangerie in the village, but Beaumont-Hague, with its shops is not far away.
All in all, a very enjoyable stay.
A comfortable property that was set in a picturesque location with lovely view of the sea from the terrace outside the upstairs bedroom window. The beach was five minutes walk from the property and many coastal walks.
La Creque is a cosy well appointed cottage ideally suited to a couple but could sleep 4.
The setting is ideal close to village with a few amenities but a short drive to larger town for shops and restaurants. Its best feature has to be the small roof terrace that is accessed via main bedroom window and has fantastic views of the coast and sea. The property was clean and well equipped and the owner friendly and helpful. The only downside to the property is lack of outdoor space downstairs with good outlook. However the terrace compensates for this. Short walk to unspoilt beach and coastal walks. Would recommend to friends.
We loved our week in La Creque-A Tardis of a cottage-much bigger on the inside than it appears on the outside!-Very neatly planned & well thought out in internal design-(but probably not good for small children, hence none allowed!)-The only amenity missing ,so far as we were concerned,is a tumble dryer-otherwise really well provided for!& everything in excellent condition too! Books (but not games) provided.Lots of Storage space & a Bed with a view-What more could you want?!--Rooftop "Patio" with amazing panoramic views of the whole bay-(sunny or stormy, day or night-it's all good )-2 minutes' wander down the lane to the beach-(rock pools, & good swimming-surf at certain times of tide-pebbles at top & sandy lower down-beautiful!)Great walks from the cottage.(Nearby Botanical Gardens are well worth a long visit)
Sleeping arrangements :2 double beds-one modern, & the other beautiful antique-both very comfortable beds! Upstairs loo as well as downstairs bathroom with loo, sink, heated towel rail, bath & walk-in shower (& washing-machine!)
We met the owner in person as we left-(not surprised it is so well designed, as she plans to retire there later on.)-Mme Rennet who lives up the hill (but speaks no English-could be interesting!) met us on our arrival & showed us round-very helpful.-The cottage was immaculately clean & neat. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend it, & hope we might return there ourselves sometime soon!
