A days family canoe trip starts at Tessy sur Vire and takes about 6 hours to go downstream to Conde sur Vire. We have done this several times, and enjoy it with our kids everytime. Canoe hire from Conde sur Vire.
Large market at Torignir sur Vire on a Monday morning, just 10km away. Try the bbq outside the local butcher.
All the D Day beaches are a short drive north, and should not be missed. Each town and village on route has its own story of liberation to tell. At Pont Farcy a WW2 Bailey Bridge has been restored. This is only 4km away.
The property was perfect for us. Our young children liked running around and though there is a road right next to the house, it was very safe as there was no traffic all week. We would take the kids bikes next time as there is a great cycling path from the town along the river with a really nice big playground on the way. It's not too far in a car to some nice beaches. We also visited Mont St. Michelle, which was highlight for everybody. We also liked visiting Saint Lo, which is a near by town with muzeums, kids enjoyed visiting Haras National De Saint Lo.
