Anne and I (Simon) are originally from Hampshire but moved to Normandy in 2013 with our two cats, Molly and Gizmo. Over the years we have spent much time traveling in France but we fell in love with the Normandy/Brittany people, countryside, history and of course the food and drink! We live on site and will be happy to provide as much or as little help as you require. For those of you who have limited experience of France, we will be delighted to share our tips and local knowledge.

|Why this location?||We chose this part of southern Normandy for the beautiful countryside, the close proximity to the coast, the climate, the historic sights and leisure activities, and its’ easy access to the Channel ports. We love the friendliness of the people, the delicious food and drink, the markets, the slower pace of life here and the variety of things that you can choose to do each day. We were also attracted by the closeness to neighbouring Brittany which is just 3 fields away! It’s also a short car journey over the border to the Pays de la Loire, so there are plenty of opportunities to explore all three regions.|
|Unique benefits of property||Although we are in a rural situation, on a no through road and surrounded by fields it is easy to reach many of the local villages within minutes and other large towns in 30 - 45 minutes. Because we are in a rural area we also have spectacular views of the sky at night. So it can be useful to bring your binoculars, sit in the garden after dark and appreciate the clear view of the stars and sky. You may also be able to catch a glimpse of our resident barn owl!|
Le Haut Champ is ideally located for those seeking all different types of activities for their holiday.
Walking in the country lanes or rambling through fields, hedgerows and along the river banks, visits to beautiful gardens, lazy days spent on sandy beaches, cycling through the undulating country roads and dedicated cycle routes (off road), trips to a variety of museums and galleries with an abundance of history all on our doorstep. Alternatively you could find a local café to relax in with a glass of wine, cider or a cup of coffee. Here are some of our favourites:
Le Mont Saint Michel:
A UNESCO World Heritage site & a must see if you are visiting Normandy.
This old walled town is full of old world charm and history as well as lovely shops, restaurants and cafes.
This nearby fishing town is the perfect place to taste the fresh seafood and fish that is caught in the port. It is also home to the Christian Dior museum.
A medieval town with is own castle, fascinating history, lovely walks, an old medieval quarter and charming public gardens with fantastic views over the castle.
Our nearest town, just 10 kilometres, has a good selection of shops, restaurants, banks and supermarkets. It also has a superb market on a Wednesday morning, probably one of the best in the area.
Only 30 minutes in the car and is a great place to see Le Mont Saint Michel in the distance from the public gardens. It is also home to the Scriptorial which holds the original manuscripts from the Benedictine monks at the cathedral on Le Mont Saint Michel. Full of shops, restaurants and bars is it a great place to for lunch. Saturday is market day and it also hosts a monthly Brocante in the main square.
Is our favourite beach with views of Le Mt St Michel.
The Bayeux Tapestry:
Only an hour & 15 mintues and well worth the trip.
The D-Day Beaches:
A great destination for a day trip.
