Recently renovated to a high standard by the current owners, Marion's Cottage is a well equipped, traditional French cottage. It is furnished in French country style but with modern appliances and amenities. It is handily placed for all the Lower Normandy tourist attractions such as Le Mont St Michel, the WW2 Landing Beaches and Bayeux Tapestry. It is also possible to get a passenger ferry from Granville in the summer months to Jersey or the Iles de Chaussey (French Channel Islands).
The property is well suited to those looking for a relaxing break in the beautiful Bocage countryside of La Manche. With a boulangerie in the nearby village of Beauchamps and a supermarket within easy reach, it is well serviced from a retail perspective. The surrounding area is ideal for walking, trout fishing and sea fishing, painting and photography and the beaches are one of France's best kept secrets, with broad expanses of unspoilt and uncluttered sand. There are a number of golf courses within easy reach. The cottage has a range of traditional French restaurants close by, at least two of which offer food cooked over a wood fire. Additionally, the area has a multitude of other dining options, many of which showcase the local delicacies of fresh seafood, including some of the finest mussels and oysters.

|Year property purchased||2012|
|Why this location?||Easy access, amazing beaches and some of France's top tourist attractions.|
|Unique benefits of property||With an abundance of quiet, rural charm, Marion's Cottage is a well equipped and comfortable base for your Normandy holiday.|
The port of Granville has a pirate history and its imposing high town and port are well worth the visit. There are excellent seafood restaurants around the port. It is also possible to catch a ferry to Jersey or the Iles de Chaussey (French Channel Islands) from here. The beaches both north and south of Granville are large expanses of uncluttered sand and almost never busy.
Mont Saint Michel is a short drive from the cottage. This island abbey is one of the most visited and photographed tourist attractions in France and is a 'must see'.
The WW2 Landing Beaches are an easy drive from the cottage. Of note are the American Landing Beaches of Omaha (of Saving Private Ryan fame) and Utah. Slightly further east are the British, Canadian, Anzac and European beaches of Gold, Juno and Sword. The American War Cemetery at Colleville sur Mer is beautifully maintained and is a fitting and poignant reminder of the heavy cost borne by these young men.
We recently stayed at Marion's Cottage for one week en route back up to the UK. Our immediate impression was that everything was spotlessly clean and tidy, it had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable.
Ian and Kim were on hand to make sure we were happy and where to find things, in fact they were perfect hosts, around if we needed anything, occasionally having a chat when we returned from a day out etc just wanting our visit to be the best it could be.
The cottage was perfect for us as a couple, very comfortable and peaceful, lovely and quiet location, but only a couple of minutes to the main road. We like to keep days out to 'under an hour's travelling' and there were lots of places to visit, in fact we need to return to catch some we missed. Towns with markets and beaches to visit are all well within an hour.
Sitting out on the patio area in an evening with a glass in hand was just brilliant, the BBQ to cook the market produce was excellent. The kitchen area was particularly good, hob and oven, large fridge with freezer above, plenty of space to work. We will definitely be back soon!
Thanks for the positive feedback, Barry. We enjoyed having you around and, should you choose to return, we'll definitely make you equally as welcome. A bientôt!
We booked at Marion’s Cottage to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, experience rural France and to be close to visit friends. What a magnificent experience awaited us.
The cottage is fantastic and the hosts are wonderful. We wanted for nothing. Close to villages to pick up essentials and to experience all Normandy has to offer. We found Cherbourg, the D Day beaches and Mont St Michel all very easy drives and easily achieved as day trips. The Cottage had everything we needed - all we had to add was food, wine and the desire to (occasionally) put our feet up and relax - hard to do with the lure of Normandy on our door step.
Our hosts, Ian and Kim, were exceptional. Always ready with advice, assistance and a warm smile. We’ll be back again; soon.
Thanks Craig. As our first Australian guests, we were slightly nervous as to Southern Hemisphere expectations. We are so glad that you enjoyed our rural idyll. You know that you are welcome at any time in the future and we'd love to see you both again. Thank you for your warm and generous comments, we really appreciate it.
We have recently returned home having spent two lovely weeks at Marion's Cottage. Ian and Kim are the most wonderful hosts and made us feel welcome and at home straight away.
The property is perfect. A great location, as you have the peace and quiet of the countryside but within 15 to 20 minutes you could be in a local village, on a beautiful beach or visiting one of the many tourist attractions.
I have recommended this property to all my friends and could have easily stayed for another two weeks.
We had a great time and made some fantastic memories. Thank you both for our best holiday ever !
Thanks for the great comments, Phil. We really enjoyed meeting you and your family and we are glad that the cottage met your expectations. It was also pleasing to hear that you enjoyed your holiday. We believe that this area is an ideal destination and it is good to hear that you think so too. You know that you would be welcome back, should you ever choose to return. Ian & Kim
This cottage was perfect! Booking was easy and communication from the owners was frequent and timely. On arriving we revived a friendly greeting and all the help we could need to settle in. Marion's cottage is small but has all the space you need for a family of 4. It had a small well equipped kitchen. The cottage was clean and very well maintained. There is a small garden and a patio table, sadly the weather did not permit us to use the outside gas BBQ.
I would recommend this cottage wholeheartedly, in fact we will probably return. It is just under an hour to Bayeux and not much further to the Normandy beaches. There are some nice (short-ish) walks around the area and the GR routes are all well marked. Heading south its close to Saint Mont Michel and St Marlo.
The location is very rural but its easy to get to well served by local markets and the boulangerie in Beauchamps (a 3min drive) is absolutely wonderful, as is the chocolate shop near Granville.
I wonderful holiday that not even the weather could spoil.
Thanks for the kind words and positive feedback. It was a pleasure to host you and your family. Unfortunately, the weather is beyond our control but we are pleased that you had a great time, nonetheless. If you ever choose to return, be assured that we will make you welcome.
