We are an active, elderly couple mostly based in London. We love going to Normandy ourselves, and we're also happy to be able to offer our French cottage to visitors.
|Year property purchased||1988|
|Why this location?||We were totally charmed by the unspoilt countryside and myriad places of historic and architectural interest, plus the sea close by.|
|Unique benefits of property||You can get away from it all to a quiet refreshing unspoilt rural beauty. The village is small and tranquil but so many places of interest are only a short distance away.|
There are lots of historic sites to visit, the memorials and museums being amongst them, as well as ancient churches and chateaux, plus beautiful historic towns such as Bayeux and Valognes (Versailles of the north). There are many exquisite villages and coastal towns like Barfleur and Omonville-la Rogue – an endless feast of delightful sites, not to mention the glorious sandy beaches of the east coast and the wilder waves of the west. And for those keen on 'car boot sales' the regular French equivalent 'Vide Greniers' are not to be missed.
A lovely stay had by all
We travelled to Normandy to visit all the beaches and museums this cottage is in the perfect spot. We had 2 young children with us and they really enjoyed their stay, we could of stayed longer.
There are plenty of facilities in the cottage really is a home from home.
I would advise to check opening times of local shops supermarkets ECT as it got us a couple of times when we just needed milk we couldn't find any! Luckily there was a lovely couple next door who rescued us.
I would recommend this cottage if you want a peaceful stay but also want to do all the tourist stuff.
Take a torch!! It gets very dark.
We're so pleased you enjoyed your stay – thank you for your great review! On a minor note, it sounds as though the front external light with automatic sensor may have been switched off by mistake, so apologies for that. Best wishes.
