About this property

Peaceful, Detached, Rural - Traditional Stone Gite. This cottage/gite is in a rural setting.

La Buneliere (Husson Gite) is situated in a beautiful area of countryside in the Manche region of Normandy.

We enjoyed staying here as guests ourselves on a couple of occasions, prior to being in the fortunate position to be able to purchase the Gite in 2016 .

We find it a beautiful and peaceful haven to relax and unwind, as a couple or with a large group of friends and family, as it is ideal for all ages.

Easily accessible by car from several coastal ports and airports, and only a short drive from historic sites, family activities, and scenic countryside walks and cycle routes.

The detached traditional stone gite provides spacious accommodation for all, and is set on a large plot in a peaceful location surrounded by fields, with no immediate neighbours.

The ground floor accommodation sleeps up to 4 people in two bedrooms.

We have recently refurbished the first floor, providing beds for a further 4 people.

(Please note - the rates shown on this website are based upon 4 people on the ground floor, if you would like to rent the additional bedroom and shower-room on the first floor there will be a charge of £10 per person, per night).

*Flexible arrival day is available outside of peak season. During peak season we ask for a Saturday changeover day, unless agreed with the owners.

Ground floor - The front door opens into a bright hallway, which leads to a spacious open plan living area, with a well equipped farmhouse kitchen, dining table and chairs, two comfortable sofas all surrounding a large wood burner and hearth.
Also from the hallway is the ground floor bathroom with a full size bath and integral power shower, double bedroom with traditional French doors leading to the garden, and a further twin bedroom leading off the double room.

Recently refurbished first floor - large hallway/ landing area with sofa, chair and TV, small bathroom with power shower and toilet, plus a large family room (double bed and two singles), with excellent views.
Outside - The garden is private and secluded, with fantastic views over fields and farmland.
There is an old 'colombage' barn which houses a table tennis table, cricket, tennis, football and other games, for sole use of guests of the Gite.

Also, bbq and plenty of seating and outside dining table, for you to relax and enjoy the beautiful French countryside.

The Gite is ideally located to visit places such as Mont St Michel ancient monument and chapel, as well as D Day beaches. In addition there are play parks/ zoos, and gardens to visit, as well as excellent cycling routes/walks, and local markets.

There is also a small river nearby which you can walk to and use the fishing nets provided at the Gite.

"Just wonderful. Perfect setting, beautiful Gite and so much to do and see”
La Buneliere is situated in such a beautiful spot, We had tranquillity as soon as we arrived, There is a very warm and homely feeling about La Buneliere. There is so much to do and see so you can plan without hassle and just take your time without a care. We came with our two dogs and we walked them every morning. Notre-dame de touchet was a lovely 4 mile walk with quiet roads, Beautiful church, an antique shop, Convenience store and a wonderful bar/restaurant and Mme Sylvie is so welcoming and for those who do not speak great french she does speak English. There is so much to see and a must do is to go and see Mont-St. Michel absolutely breath taking. We will be booking again for next year for another amazing holiday Thank you Chris and Sally.

"Perfectly situated for exploring Normandy, well equipped, peaceful family Gite.”
I can't recommend this Gite enough, it was perfect for our family holiday, great situation about an hour from the tourist attractions of the beautiful Mont St Michel and Granville and an hour and a half from the D day beaches so there's loads to do but it's also in a lovely quiet location close to the French towns of Mortain and St Hilaire du Harcouet both with amazing markets and restaurants. The Gite itself is a real home from home, really well equipped with comfortable beds, a traditional French kitchen and the games room and trampoline were well used by our children, when they weren't catching grasshoppers ! The local wildlife was also a real bonus and it was a perfect place to come back to every evening to sit outside in total peace while the sun went down with a glass of wine !

About the Owner/Advertiser, Mr Chris + Sally

After enjoying holidays in the beautiful areas of Manche and Orne in Normandy for several years, we rented Husson gite from the previous owners on two occasions as we loved it so much. In 2016 we were lucky enough to be able to buy this beautiful cottage from the owners. We have continued to use the cottage for our own holidays in France, and this year we decided to make it available for rental to other guests to enjoy as much as we do.

Year property purchased 2016
Why this location? We love the beautiful scenery of this part of Normandy, which can be enjoyed by car, bicycle and foot. It is such a peaceful place where we can relax and unwind, but also take part in activities such as kayaking, and sightseeing. The roads are quiet and the cottage is easily reached from all major ports and airports in northern France. The weather is sunny and warm during the summer months, and for the winter months, the cottage is a cosy retreat to return to after days out.
Unique benefits of property Our cottage is detached with its own private garden of 3/4 of an acre, and no neighbours nearby. It has two large bedrooms making it ideal for couples or families. It is a cosy retreat in winter months due to the log fire in the main living room, and during the summer months you can enjoy the views from the sun trap garden. We also provide a welcome gift of local produce on arrival to make your holiday even more special.

Just spent a relaxing fortnight at the Gite and enjoyed the peace, tranquility and the views over the
rural Normandy landscape. Just for information the trees shown in the first photo have been removed
which increases the view of the surrounding countryside. Although the Gite is in a rural setting it is only a short drive to the small town of Notre Dame du Touchet where there is a small shop (open Sunday morning) a Boulangerie and a very nice Bar/Restaurant. Not much further away is La Teilleul which has a larger supermarket which is also open Sunday mornings. The Gite's location is ideal as a base for touring the area and sightseeing. The famous Mont St Michel is in easy reach by car and the Normandy landing sites are not much further. There are numerous picturesque villages and towns closer to hand and the Musée du Poiré at nearby Barenton is well worth a visit. The Gite itself is spacious and well equipped and although we only used the downstairs there is now an upper floor available albeit via a rather steep staircase. Had excellent ongoing communications from the owners from the moment of booking.

We have just spent a week in this lovely cottage set amid beautiful farmland in this peaceful and totally french area of Normandy. There is all you could want for your comfort in the property. You can spent time just walking or cycling the quiet scenic lanes or jump in the car and explore further with the coast and historic attractions not far away. We know the area quite well and this time we visited Cancale up on the coast where we watched the oysters being farmed and then enjoyed having them on our plate in one of the many restaurants along on harbour seafront. Well worth a visit. We chose St Hiliare Du Harcouet for our french market experience. Typically french with locals and tourists all enjoying the atmosphere, buying and eating in the local bars and restaurants. Lovely park and recreation area to take the kids. Comprehensive info on everything inside cottage. If you love France or think you might even like it, you wont go far wrong in Le B cottage Husson. Good supermarkets not too far away.

Beautiful, tranquil and wonderfully rural location set among rolling farmland but still accessible (in car) to a number of great small villages and towns.
The garden/courtyard and barn were great for our two boys (3&5) to explore, The outside space and country views are wonderful. The boys were able to ride their bikes around the courtyard (using the huge trampoline as a roundabout). :Loads of games/toys in the barn - bikes/table tennis/air hockey etc.
The house is very traditional and the kitchen/dining room rustic and welcoming. Lots of storage. Very clean and a lovely big table and open fireplace (not used as summer). We occupied the downstairs two bedrooms (double and twin) which was perfect for our family - the upstairs two rooms were still under conversion. Again spotlessly clean, lovely bed linen and for us having the boys room adjoining us was a real bonus. The heating system is very effective and instructions on the workings of the house and barn are easy to understand.
The local farmer (Michel) and his sister (Marie) were very welcoming they took our boys for tractor rides and regularly popped up to check on our welfare.
The local area provided more than enough to do. The pool at St Hillarie du Harcourt was excellent for, as was the superb Alligator bay near Mont St Michelle. The village of Mantilly was hosting its annual Poire et Pomme fete (24/7).
The exquisite port of Cancale is 45 mins and well worth a visit.
A wonderful holiday - we will be back!

Owner response

Thank you J, it's really important to us that our guests enjoy their stay as much as possible, so it's great to have your feedback. For the info of other customers, we are planning on completing the redecoration of the upstairs 2 bedrooms whenever the property is vacant, so there will be an additional two bedrooms and bathroom reopened for use to the same standard as downstairs next year. We will update the website with pictures as soon as complete, but in the meantime, the property remains available for rental as shown on this site, with two bedrooms and living area and bathroom already refurbished and located on the ground floor. Thanks again & looking forward to welcoming you again next year, Chris and Sally.
