Welcome to The Normandy Inn at Le Val Borel, in beautiful Lower Normandy.
Set in the heart of the rolling Lower Normandy countryside, there is good access to a wide range of tourist attractions and places of interest, including Mont St. Michel, the Bayeux tapestry, the powerful experience of the Normandy Beaches and the military cemeteries. St Malo, Rennes, Caen, St Lo and Vire are also within easy reach. Within the local area, there are excellent walks and cycle paths.
Being in the middle of the countryside, you will need your own transport.
Whether you are after a weekend break, a week’s exploration or en route further south, there are ferry ports, airports and good road systems within close reach. If you need advice on how to get here, just let us know.
We have four bright, clean, modern, en suite rooms, catering for from 2 to 5 people per room. There is also a welcoming dining and lounging area, with access to a kitchen for those of you wishing to self-cater – where there is complementary tea, coffee and other drinks. Room 1 is on the ground floor, and has it’s own access to the grounds. The other three rooms are up a flight of stairs, and all have beautiful views. There is also a quiet reading area on the upstairs landing.
Breakfast is continental in style, and can be served at a time that suits you best up to 10.30am. If you want an evening meal, you’re welcome, but it will be whatever we are eating, and we will need 24 hours notice – talk to us about your needs. Otherwise, there are some lovely restaurants within easy driving distance – we’ve tried most of them; ask us which we would recommend!
If you don’t want to drive, and just want to relax, you are welcome to make use of our paths and woodland. Lovely secluded spots to sit and picnic, or contemplate the peace. See if you can spot the fish and newts in one of the three ponds – or the red squirrels in the trees. At night-time, take advantage of the lack of light pollution to marvel at the stars (on one of the many clear nights).
Come at the right time of year and the dragonflies are spectacular.
And then there are our animals; Harry is a very friendly large donkey who loves being fed pieces of carrot or apple by hand, as do the two friendly goats – Raja (the greedy one) and Sherry. Millie, our elderly Jack Russell is a bit too temperamental to be let loose! Although the animal sheds are out of bounds, just linger around and the animals will come to you.
Children are very welcome here, and there is a large range of toys, games and activities available for them. As this is a traditional piece of Normandy countryside, there are risks, which parents will need to be responsible for – ponds, animals, old buildings, open access to (very quiet) roads etc.
Cottage/Gite
Although we provide bed and breakfast accommodation our small fully equipped kitchen is available for guests to use should they wish to cook or prepare meals.
Our spacious communal dining area is available to all our guests and is separate from the owners accommodation.
As well as the dining area, the living room has a comfortable seating area and there is also a first floor sitting area. We provide a selection of games, books and local tourist information for our guests.
We have four guest bedrooms each with its own private shower and toilet.
Room 1 is on the ground floor, just off the living room and has patio doors to an outside sitting area making it the ideal choice for people travelling with dogs or who prefer easy access to a ground floor room. This room gets the late afternoon and evening sunlight and has views over the normandy countryside.
Rooms 2 & 3 on the first floor are spacious doubles but can accommodate additional single beds if required. Both are en-suite and each has a juliet balcony with views overlooking the normandy countryside.
Room 4 on the first floor is our largest double room and can accommodate up to 5 people with three additional single beds, making this an ideal room for families or group of friends. South facing with views over the woodland.
Towels and complementary eco-friendly toiletries are provided in all rooms.
All bedrooms have their own private shower room and toilet.
The property is heated by a mixture of gas central heating downstairs and efficient electric radiators in the first floor bedrooms.

Peter and Joy are delighted to be fulfilling their dream of running a chambre d'hotes in the beautiful lower Normandy countryside, having spent many years between them working in health, education and social care. They bring their wealth of 'people skills' to this new venture, and have had excellent feedback so far! They provide a high quality service, with a tasty continental style breakfast included, and are very happy to engage with their guests - or leave them in peace as desired....

Great day out for all the family, beautifully laid out zoo and wildlife park; plenty of free parking and reasonably priced food. Highly recommended.
Fine dining at its best, just a short drive from Le Val Borel. We can thoroughly recommend it.
Bayeux is a beautiful city, as well as the world famous tapestry, the cathedral is well worth a visit.
A viaduct designed by Gustav Eiffel now used for bungy jumping and other high adrenaline activities. There is also a luge and a barefoot garden. 24 kms away.
The world famous Mont St Michel is a 'must see'.
