We are Christine and Neil Finch, we purchased La Hallotiere in February 2013. We previously lived in Carshalton, Surrey.
Neil was a London Fireman and Christine worked in Oncology. We consider ourselves very lucky indeed to have found a property in such a beautiful place. We fell in love with the wonderful views the property has, and the peace and quiet after such busy lives in London.
We are very proud of our Gites.
|Year property purchased||2013|
|Why this location?||We fell in love with Normandy some years ago and have always dreamed of living here one day. It is an ideal location for Neil to pursue his love of motorbikes as the roads are so smooth and free of traffic.
We also love the good food and wine!
|Unique benefits of property||All three of our Gites are unique, they are detached and each have their own patio/ garden area for bbqs and sitting out admiring the view.
We have a swimming pool which is heated from May - September.
Our cottages can be rented individually or all three can be rented fror Groups of friends or large families.
A magical island topped by a gravity defying medieval monastery, the Mont Saint Michel counts among France's most stunning sights. It is a major pilgrim destination and full of history.
It has lots of shops restaurants and bars to make it an enjoyable day for all the family.
This course benefits from a simply stunning position. The magnificent course is beautiful but technically demanding. The greens are large but with subtle slopes that torment and demand great putter control..
Golf de Vire is unique in Normandy, its originality is striking, your pleasure will be unlimited and then there is a Clubhouse to discuss your game over lunch and a drink.
Arromanches is well known as the town where the Mulberry Harbour was built during the D-Day landings in 1944. Remains of the harbour can still be seen, the beach is lovely and there are plenty of bars, and restaurants.
There is also a brilliant museum and a 360 degree cinema.
A must see for anyone interested in the D Day landings.
This is a great day out. The town is very popular and is listed as one of the most important protected historic towns in France.
The famous tapestry is here, the beautiful cathedral and the old town is well worth exploring.
Near to Bayeux, is the largest British war cemetery in Normandy. It is very moving and immaculately kept. Reading the messages from the families of British soldiers buried here is a very poignant experience.
A wonderful, peaceful location and great place to explore local 2nd WW history. We took bicycles and had some beautiful, scenic rides, albeit a bit hilly in places for children. About a 7 mile round trip to the local boulangerie for the bread each morning was great exercise!
Our hosts, Christine & Neil, were charming, friendly and very attentive to our needs. The pool was a daily source of fun for the children in spite of having one of the coolest, wettest weeks in August!
The gite was very pretty and spacious enough for our family of 5. The rooms were clean & bright. Having found I was short of some essentials (bowls, sharp knife) they were provided immediately. After a week of bad weather, my only suggestion would be to have some form of indoor drying capability - draping wet swimming kit and clothes & coats around the gite wasn't ideal. The owner very kindly lent me her clothes airer when I asked for one & she also put our permanently soggy towels in her tumble dryer one day which helped the situation tremendously.
A day trip to Arromanches & the Mulberry harbour was fascinating. The beach at Carolles was lovely - sand & rockpools, and only 30 mins away. Great aquarium at St Malo was worth the hour's drive.
I'd definitely stay there again & would recommend it if you appreciate peace & quiet!
