Chris and I have over 40 years of experience in Hospitality, running hotels and restaurants throughout the UK. We can provide everything from packed lunches and barbecues to delicious evening meals if you prefer to be spoilt in the comfort of your gite!
Chris and I (Celia) have been running hotels and restaurants in the UK for over 40 years. We decided that we would love to continue this way of life and fell in love with this region of France over 15 years ago when we found Le Pommier de Houesville. We have lovingly converted the barns attached to our home whilst retaining the integrity of 18th Century barns. We have a goat's cheese farm just a 5 minute walk away and buy our eggs from just over the hedge - perfect as far as we are concerned!
|Year property purchased||2002|
|Why this location?||This location has something for everyone. The tranquil setting is ideal for those wanting to get away from it all, whilst being at the heart of the Normandy D Day landings region and being close enough to visit all of the local towns and villages, stunning beaches, museums, nature reserves to name but a few.
Please visit our website candcgites.com for a more detailed list of places to visit and things to do.
Chris and I are just next door, so on call if you need advise or help.
We are 'wheelchair accessible' with the addition of our new MARAIS ANNEXE, furnished to a high standard and ideal for our disabled and able-bodied guests. This ground floor extension has increased our capacity to 6 (8 if you include the bed settee in the lounge area). The Marais annexe can also be rented independently from the main gite, but on a bed and breakfast only basis. Please ask for details.
|Unique benefits of property||Set in extensive lawned gardens the 18th century stone barns offer 21st century living whilst retaining their original integrity. Indeed, the barns are still giving up their secrets of occupied France when we find yet another artifact from WW2 hidden in a nook and cranny.
The gite has an open plan kitchen and dining area so has a light, airy and sociable feel and opens straight out onto the terrace so you can enjoy a glass of wine and bbq.
Rented all year and fully heated with a logburner for those Autumn or Winter evenings, so is ideal for a romantic week or short break away.
The latest addition to C & C Gites is now open for business. The MARAIS ANNEXE is a stunning ground floor extension to our accommodation. Every effort has been made to meet the needs and versatility of our guests. Comprising an additional bedroom with zip link (king size double/twin) and a spacious en suite wet room, both fully wheelchair accessible. Extra disabled facilities also readily available.
Our nearest museum and very popular with WW2 historians
within 15 minutes drive, this wonderful museum re-tells the experiences of 1944 and is situated on Utah beach. This is in itself a beautiful beach with miles upon miles of golden sand.
Only 30-40 minutes away this medi-evil town, famous for The Bayeux Tapestry is abound with ancient timbered buildings and wonderful cathedral.
Both pretty fishing villages with a good selection of shops and restaurants.
A world class grocer, wine merchant and gift shop can be found in St Vaast la Hougue in the form of Maison Gosselin. Has to be seen to be believed!
Restaurant in Sainte Mere Eglise specialising in fresh local cuisine. Well worth a visit.
Situated in Grandcamp-Maissy this wonderful restaurant specialises in local seafood and gets it's fish straight of the fishing boats a stone's throw away.
We had a lovely few days, helped by good weather. Everything was as advertised, great hosts and beautiful setting. We would definitely return and recommend 100%.
Thank you so much for your kind comments. It was a pleasure to welcome your family to our little corner of France. We hope that you enjoy the rest of your holiday in Europe and UK and would love to see you all again.
Fantastic week in a most beautiful part of France, plenty to see and do ranging from walking round quaint little villages to visiting the historic towns and of course soaking in the atmosphere of the Normandy beaches
Celia and Chris were fantastic hosts, nothing was too much trouble for them and the gite was superb.
We stayed in the newly built annexe, beautifully furnished with a walk in shower ideal for wheelchair users or someone who is not too agile, like myself.
The gite itself has everything you need from coffee machine to dishwasher and much much more and of course Celia and Chris and Rolo the delightful chocolate Labrador are always on hand to help in any way they can. When we arrived a welcome pack was waiting for us everything we needed for our first nights stay in this peaceful property.
This was my second visit to C & C Gites and I cannot wait to go again next year and I
would definitely recommend it to a friend.
Thank you so much for your kind comments and it was lovely to welcome you back to Le Pommier. You certainly seemed to pack a lot into your 7 days! We would of course be only too pleased to see you all again next year.
excellent accommodation, and very friendly and kind hosts, also a great help when our car broke
down by helping to us by offering to run us around to get parts. In all a very pleasant stay.

Thank you so much for your kind review and we are really pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us. We would love to welcome you back to our little corner of Normandy again soon!
Having just spent a week in the Gite at Le Pommier we found it to be everything it said on the website and much much more. Beautifully furnished, comfortable beds and a very well equipped kitchen for all our needs.
Chris and Celia who live next door were the perfect hosts and only too pleased to answer any questions we had and advise us on places to go. On our arrival we found a welcome pack consisting of cheese, butter, bread, wine, fruit eggs and more. Just the thing for our first nights stay.
If you are looking for a mixture of first class accommodation, peace and tranquillity, glorious beaches and villages with a lot of history thrown in, this is the place to go. I cannot praise it enough and we will certainly be booking again for next year.
