About this property

Rustic, Spacious And Stylish Converted Stone Barn . This cottage/gite is in a rural setting.

Situated in a quiet pretty rural location The Barn has been converted into a 4 bedroom cosy and warm holiday home. The interior is a combination of traditional oak beams; comfy sofa's but with a modern country kitchen providing all the facilities you will need.

The ground floor is open plan and provides plenty of space for a cool haven in the summer or a cozy intimate ambiance on those cooler or winter evenings with the glow and warmth from the wood burner. There is also electric central heating available.

A utility room with washing machine, and separate wc is on the ground floor.

The first floor provides a large double bedroom with a king size bed, and two single rooms, all with plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. There is a large family bathroom with a lovely corner bath and hand shower. Towels and bed linen are all included.

The landing has a lovely peaceful area where you can just sit in a comfortable Queen Anne chair and take in the view and relax. (Always a favourite with our guests).
A small staircase takes you to the third floor to the 2nd double bedroom. The kids always find this fascinating as they feel it’s a hide away from the grown ups!

Outside you have large safe private garden, bbq, patio table and chairs, and sun loungers.

The heated swimming pool and terrace are available from June to September. These facilities are shared with our other holiday home, The Cabin at Les Basses Beaulinges, listed separately. Group bookings using both properties are welcome.

The immediate surrounding area provides peaceful walks in all seasons. The Chase (tree lined avenue) is beautiful at all times of the year from an abundance of many buds and new growth in the springtime, an arch of green foliage in summer to the gorgeous golden autumn leaves as winter approaches. Here you can take an invigorating stroll where you can observe the local wildlife. This could include deer, bunnies and birds; there are a lot of buzzards and hawks in the area also. Don’t forget the cows who will always be curious as you stroll by.

In the winter months The Barn can either be taken as self-catering or as a B&B - please enquire for rates.



Kitchen and dining

Kitchen includes:
Electric cooker and hob, Microwave, coffee maker, fridge, freezer and dishwasher.
Plenty of crockery, utensils, glasses, pots and pans.
Kitchen towels are included.

The utility room includes washing machine, separate sink, ironing board, iron and cleaning utensils (hoover, mop etc).

The dining area seats 6 people.
There is a Chichester sofa and chair to relax here whilst you use have the use of a variety of dvds for use during your stay as well as a few books and games.

Living rooms

The living room has tv (English and French programmes), dvd plus a choice of dvds to chose from during your stay.
Seating comprises of 2 x 2 seater sofas and a log burner ( logs included) and leather pouffe.

Double door take you through to the patio outside.

On the landing you will find a variety of books to read and please feel free to leave any for other people to enjoy.
There is also a 'quiet area' where you can sit back in the Queen and just relax whilst starting out the window to the green surroundings. This is a favourite spot with all out guests, adults and children alike.

Garden and outside

On the patio you have a table and chairs, seats for 6 people and umbrella.
This leads to your large private garden laid to lawn and has 2 sun beds, where you will also have a large wooden bench with plenty of room for 8 people.

Walk through the archway and you are in the pool and terrace area where you can enjoy the heated pool (open June to September, subject to normal weather conditions), plus solar powered shower, with lounge seating area and sun beds on the terrace.

Parking and garages

Off road parking is available with enough space for 2 cars beside The Barn.
Should you need more parking space please advice upon booking.

Visitor suitability

Obviously it is your holiday home for the duration of your stay and you are welcome to have visitors.

We have been in France for 10 years. The converted barn is one of two properties at Les Basses Beaulinges, the other, The Cabin is a 2 bedroom log cabin. We love the area and take a lot of pleasure in sharing our holiday homes with you.<br/>Between the two properties we can accommodate larger groups of up to 10 people.

Year property purchased 2004
Why this location? The location is perfect. You could spend two weeks or more here and be sure to have plenty of different things to do, places to see and explore, all normally within a 2 hour driving radius. If you want a full day excursion you could pop over to Jersey for the day from St Malo or Granville (seasonal).
We are surrounded by lovely countryside which is perfect for peace and tranquility whilst enjoying the natural wildlife, plus our neigbours the cows who just add to the ambiance.
Unique benefits of property The Barn with its natural stone walls is lovely and cool in the heat of the summer, with plenty of space outside in a private large garden. Just walk through the arch to the swimming pool and just relax and enjoy the lovely surrounding area.
The Barn is furnished like a home from home so you should have everyhting that you need.

There is so much close by

Ducey is less than 10 minutes and the nearest town with beautiful château & gardens. A selection of shops include Boucherie, Patisserie, Hairdressers, Pharmacie and large Carrefour supermarket (open 9am to 7.15pm Mondays to Saturdays and Sundays 9am to noon).

On your doorstep, just 15 minutes there is a hidden water park. The kids will love it.

Avranches has good shopping in the centre or a Commercial centres and is just 15 minutes away. Many treasures are hidden in Avranches. The city preserves the manuscripts of Le Mont-Saint-Michel; a prestigious collection where the you can discover the secrets of in 'The Scriptorial' museum.

Saint-Hilaire-du-Harcouët is just 15 minutes away and offers a variety of shops, restaurants, cafes and bars (children allowed). Every Wednesday morning there is a fantastic large market where you can buy clothes, local produce, livestock etc,it really is worth a morning out and finish it off with a rather tasty hotdog or burger for lunch!

Le Mont-Saint-Michel is simply stunning. One of Frances’s top tourist attractions is just 25 minutes from Les Basses Beaulinges. Allow yourself at least 4 to 5 hours here, as you will want to take your time to explore this wonderful historic monument. The selection of bars and restaurants along with the views will stay with you forever. The tour of the upper areas, (the Abbey) is simply a must. Do get the audiotape to take with you as you do the tour as the history is fascinating. If you want you can take a walking tour across the estuary, a guide is a must who will ensure your safety as there is lot of quick sand. The locals say that "when the tide comes in a horse cannot outrun it!"
