From its 130m, the Mont Castre offers a stunning view of the lake and of the territory surrounding it.

The Benedictine Abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel is one of the most remarkable examples of medieval religious and military architecture and was one of Christianity's most important pilgrimage sites from the 8th to the 18th century. The Abbey comprises a superb ensemble of clerical buildings including the abbey church, the cloister, the refectory, the monks' ambulatory and the gardens of what has been known as the ""Merveille"" (Marvel) since the 12th century.
Festyland is the biggest family amusment park in Normandy with over 28 attractions for young and old! The park is just outside Caen and take about an hour to drive there from La Forge.

The American Military Cemetery of Colleville-sur-Mer is the most famous war cemetery in Normandy. The long lines of white marble Latin crosses and stars of David symbolise the sacrifices that the Allied nations - and here in particular the United States of America - have made for our freedom. The cemetery is an exceptional site, not in the least because of its impressive location dominating Omaha Beach, where the Americans suffered their worst losses.
It take around 45 minutes to drive to the American Cemetery from La Forge and is well worth a visit.
This was one of our favourite places to visit when the kids were younger, especially the goats!
It will take about 1 1/4 hours to drive there from La Forge.

We used La Forge as our base for a D Day trip. It worked out perfectly. We had two couples and a two individuals. There was ample space. The kitchen had plenty of kitchen supplies to cook anything we wanted. There was a super market pretty close. It was far enough out of the major areas that we could get in and out without to much traffic but close enough to see everything we wanted. I can't wait to bring another group this area of France is amazing. The property is super clean. There is a large grass area for parking so if you have more than one car it won't be a problem. I looked at a lot of house and discovered like this one most do not have internet in the area. We were able to set our hotspot in a window and our Orange card worked just fine. Remember the walls are a couple feet thick so reception in the house is tough. Our stay was magnificent and we would highly recommend this location again.
Thank you for your very kind comments. We try to make La Forge the best we can for our guests and we are so pleased that you have had a really great holiday. Hope to see you all again next year.
I went to La Forge back in July this year with my son, his partner and my grandchildren. Had a nice time
(A bit hectic though,) I decided to go back this September with my brother and sister, as I enjoyed so it so much.
The house is just about 40 mins from Cherbourg, So your there in no time.
La Forge has everything in abundance. You’ll never be stuck for things to do. Had a really relaxing holiday. Great value !!
Wouldn’t hesitate to go back again.

This was an excellent cottage that was equip with everything you could possibly need, home from home, clean and very spacious. This property works for families with small children, older children, and groups. The cottage has a large garden and there are plenty of out door games available in the shed attached, also bikes. If the weather turns colder there is a lovely fire, in door heating and games galore to keep everyone of all ages occupied. The location of the property is set in an unspoilt sleepy little village, although their were no shops, there were walks and cycle rides. Amenities were very close, such as supermarkets, bakeries (which open every day for fresh bread, even Sundays). The cottage is ideal situated for both coasts, East and West, also to tour Normandy, especially the D day beaches, museums and cemetery's. This part of France was stunning, the locals were extremely friendly as were the owners when we got into difficult;try with the car. There are nearby restaurants, although if you are vegetarian you may be limited with choice. Parking is cheap when visiting other towns, often free and there are plenty of public toilets. The area is known for its Cider, very nice and cheap, £2.00 Euro for a 2 litre bottle. Close to the cottage is a national park, well worth a visit as it has hidden lakes which you can hire pedals to go around on it, lovely pic nice areas also with children play areas. I would recommend this spacious cottage to anyone one hundred percent

The garden is lovely and children made good use of tree swing and outdoor games and the bikes. Theres a good bbq to use too. The house is a short distance to la haye du putis for local shops and supermarket. There are lots of places to visit in particular Sciotot beach is stunning and not too far.
