My wife Laurice and I lead busy lives running a Dorset Pub. We love food, drink and all things French, but above all, we love adventures and having fun. We don't get much time off in summer, so offer our lovely house in the heart of a wonderful, thriving Normandy village for others to enjoy ... and help pay the bills!
|Year property purchased||2015|
|Why this location?||We took along time searching and choosing. The house is located in the heart of the village. Within just a few meters you have most amenities. Church, Bar/Restaurant ( 5 courses only 12 Euros! well done Sylvie), Annies mini market ( sells most essentials) Gilbert's Boulagerie, excellent fresh baguette and Artisan breads, Fabienne the Coiffeuse ( Hairdresser), the local Petanque pitch (boules).The village even boasts a local garage where Stefan can overcome most motoring challenges. Our house is next door to Jean Yves the local doctor, who holds surgery on a daily basis. There are a host of places to visit within a short drive, from the famous Mont St. Michael to famous battle grounds of W.W.2. Activities of every kind are in abundance, but most importantly the people are so friendly and welcoming.|
|Unique benefits of property||. You can park right outside the front door. Flat, level entrance, leading directly to spacious open plan accommodation. The property used to be the old Sadler and Harness makers shop, but now boasts; double glazing, central heating and even a modern wet room on the ground floor. With the bed settee in the lounge this would be ideal for handicapped visitors. Parts of this old house date back as early as Viking times and is full of French character. It has two staircases, modern at the front and an old curved one at the rear, showing the ancient exposed rear wall. Upstairs there are 2 large bedrooms ( one with walk in wardrobe) and a further bathroom. There is a garden across the road, laid to lawn.|
Only a few meters away. Excellent for lunch, supper or just a drink. Sylvie, speaks English and is a host of local knowledge. She provides a 5 course lunch for only 12 euros ... wine included.
Wednesday is Market Day in St, Hillaire du Harcouet. Approx. 12 kilometres away.
The whole of the town centre is closed and given over to this thriving, bustling event,
This iconic World Heritage site (on the UNESCO list) is only 30 minutes drive away. One of the world's most stunning iconic sites, it's surrounded by the delights of the North Brittany Coast .
Close to The Monte St. Michael, a tropical delight, so much to see.10,000 sq. metres
Humid conditions, like Africa or Louisiana, replicating their natural habitats (not just Alligators, Turtles and all manner of reptiles) ... you can believe you are there. The biggest collection in Europe! Good all round modern facilities A great day for all the family.
This leisure park offers a range of activities for young and old alike. Not far from St. Hilaire. ( only 15 Km. away) It has all manner of attractions ( wet and dry) including a zoo. Everything from ponies and bumper boats to roller coasters!
Great location: right in the centre of a pretty village. A shop, boulangerie and restaurant/bar within 100m. There is so much to do in the area.
A well equipped kitchen, probably the first rental I've experienced with sharp knives; a microwave would improve it!
We booked a short notice and the owners were very responsive. The neighbours are lovely and helpful..
Unluckily the TV failed between the house being checked in the morning and our arrival, but the wifi was good enough to stream to a computer we had with us.
Thankyou for your lovely review, We are so glad you enjoyed your stay, we love our house in France and the village, we also enjoy cooking,
We have noted about microwave, we have only just started renting our house out, you were the first to stay,
Sorry about the tv, which has now been sorted.
