My name is Julie and I have just come to live in France with my husband and 3 dachshund dogs. La Landelle is our newly refurbished Gite, after owning a static caravan in nearby Portbail for 10 years. I love meeting people, planning and designing the interior of my Gite has given me great pleasure and I hope we have managed to go the extra mile to make this a lovely holiday place to enjoy thie delights of the Cotentin peninsula.
|Year property purchased||2018|
|Why this location?||A beautiful rural location benefitting from being in the heary of a small community but allowing peace and tranquility at the same time. We are close to the picturesque resort of Portbail and many other beaches on the west side and on the east we are close to the D-Day landing beaches and the vast history here.|
|Unique benefits of property||We are located in a quiet, tranquil rural location within easy reach of the D-Day landing beaches and the beautiful Tourist beach of Portbail. The gite offers a high standard of rural living right in the heart of the country. Modern facilities including international TV and wi-fi are features to ensure you can keep in touch. Well behaved dog/s are welcome
The Gite is self contained and fully doggy friendly.
There are numerous restaurants near by ranging from very inexpensive with "Menu du Jour" to more sophisticated for those special occasions. The property has easy access to artisan markets which run weekly and are well worth a visit.
Walking, cycling and nature reserves are common pastimes of the local area with scenic boat rides accross the marais available daily and very reasonably priced.
The aera boasts many Cider manufacturers alongside local producers of Calvados which can be sampled at many of the sellers.
Here in France the "routiers" are very popular not only with haulage drivers but the locals and visitors alike. The usual menus change daily and often have 5/6 choices. A buffet style starter can have meats, seafood and salads and you help yourself. A main is generally offered with a choice of potatoes, chips or green beans.Sweets are all made on site and can be several different Normandy cakes or ice cream. Cheese boards are plentiful and varied. Usually offered as a package with red wine or cider and sometime half a litre of rose. Coming in a 12-14 euros is a meal not to be missed.
Had a great week in Julie and Martin’s Gite
They were great hosts and the Gite itself was well worth the money. Ideal location to visit Normandy especially the WWII Beaches and the museums.
Julie and Martin couldn’t do enough and were always on hand if we needed anything
Benedict our Caverlier King Charles loved the garden and was welcomed by Julie and Martin.
My mother who struggles with the stairs found the downstairs bedroom and shower room ideal
We will be returning
Thanks for everything

We had a fantastic holiday at La Landelle. The Gite, attached to the owners property, is located in a small village in rural Normandy. The owners, Julie & Martin have provided everything you need including a very well equipped kitchen, they were great hosts and very welcoming and helpful, with local knowledge e.g good places to eat.
We found the setting just right for us, very relaxing and peaceful, so much so we can't wait to go back.
Dear Carol and Dave
