About the Owner/Advertiser, Mr Ron Drennan

Ron and Daphne would like to welcome you to Maison Des Noisetiers. We followed our dream and purchased a home near Villedieu Les Poeles, Lower Normandy. After 10 years of renovation and building works, we are delighted to be able to open our beautiful brand new 3 bedroom Gite to you. We have enjoyed our time building the Gite and appreciate all the help and support from our neighbours and friends. When we have time for ourselves we enjoy visiting the local markets and mixing with the locals.

This place was spotless and virtually faultless. (Although the heating system was temporarily out of order, the owners had provided space heaters and extra logs for the wood-burner.) We had a very friendly and generous welcome from the owners, and had never previously stayed in so well-equipped a gîte. The owners gave excellent recommendations for shops, restaurants and places to visit, where we were made equally welcome. It is a lovely property in a quiet corner of rural Normandy, but the family facilities on site are so extensive that you could happily stay all day – except for visits to the several excellent boulangeries in Villedieu a few minutes' drive away. We have no hesitation in recommending it, and we hope to return soon with family.

Owner response

Thank you for this review which we are very happy with. The comments really do mean a lot to us and we constantly strive to provide the conditions for visitors to have the best possible experience whilst they are with us.
We are pleased that you and your friends enjoyed the gite and surroundings and are possibly returning in the future. Thank you very much.
The central heating is now serviceable and is ready for the winter, providing a nice cozy environment.
It was good to meet you and your party and you would be most welcome in the future.

Extremely highly recommended.

Ron and Daphne have worked so hard to restore this lovely building and their attention to detail (in the construction and as hosts) is amazing.

On arrival we found a substantial welcome basket plus home-baked cakes (including a gluten-free one for me) It was very hot when we got there and the substantial paddling pool was filled immediately and a gazebo erected over it - much to the delight of my 4 year old granddaughter. In the beautifully laid-out private garden there's a 2 storey play chalet crammed with toys and in an adjacent store, bikes for adults and children. There’s also a swing and a climbing frame with a slide. Inside there was a box of toys as well as mini chairs and a little table covered in craft materials and bubble machines for a pre-schooler.

There are several sitting out areas (under canopies which were most welcome in the hot sun) Also appreciated were the garden produce, the delicious homemade jam, marmalade and home-cooked meal on arrival (an extra cost but well worth it).

The gîte is beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean throughout. EVERYTHING has been thought of.

We wanted to return to the vicinity of Villedieu-les-Poêles after a visit there some years ago and this property is about 10 minutes away from this delightful town.

I am sure to have missed out something but one thing is for sure, Daphne and Ron are extremely hospitable, kind and generous hosts and we do hope to return.

Owner response

Thank you for such a wonderful review, we are very happy to hear that you thoroughly enjoyed your stay with us. It was a pleasure to host you and your family and you would be welcome back at any time.

Just returned from a fantastic weeks stay at Maison Des Noisetier.
The owners Ron & Daphne were the most fantastic hosts. From the welcome basket of goodies and the freshly baked cake upon arrival to the tractor ride for our 6 year old daughter at the end nothing was too much trouble. They are real "people" people and their love for the gite and the area they call home really shines through.
The Gite has been a real labour of love for them and it shows with the attention to detail throughout.
Spotlessly clean throughout, we had everything we needed and more!
Would recommend the gite to anybody who wants a quiet holiday but close enough for beaches, towns and D Day memorials.

Owner response

We are very pleased that you had a great holiday at Maison Des Noisetiers. It is very important to us that you have a comfortable and relaxing time as we strive to give as good an experience as we can, and its satisfying to hear that through your feedback.
It was a pleasure to host you and your family and we look forward to perhaps seeing you if you are ever in this area again.

We have just returned from our holiday in France. Ron & Daphne were the perfect hosts and nothing was too much trouble for them. Their gite was absolutely perfect and had everything we needed - they had thought of everything! It was perfectly located for us to visit the D-day beaches which were about an hour away and a 40 minute drive got us to Granville which was a lovely town with a huge array of shops and restaurants. We enjoyed the local beaches in Carolles, Jullouville & Donville-Sue--mer. There’s plenty to do locally but the garden and location of the gite provided us with some much needed peace and quiet too! I would highly recommend this gite.

Owner response

Thank you for the kind comments. Whilst building the gite we attempted to think of everything that we would like of a luxury home and incorporated it.
It is brand new and we "set the bar high".
We are glad that you both appreciated and enjoyed it and it was a pleasure to host you. You and your family would be welcome back at any time.
