Peaceful Detached Cottage close to Beaches . This cottage/gite is in a village setting.

La Croix Verte was built in around 1800 and is a traditional stone longere. It was refurbished and extended recently, with new fixtures and fittings throughout. It has double glazing, a large woodburner and electric heaters in every room. It sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms, and is ideal for families as we supply a cot, highchair and babygates. The 2 bathrooms have modern white fittings. We have supplied everything you will need for a relaxing holiday, with amenities such as a picnic basket, hairdryers and a food mixer that you won't usually find in other properties. The large garden is fully enclosed, making it ideal for children and pets. Surrounded by open countryside, you will notice the tranquillity of the area .. some days you are lucky to even hear one car go by. There is a bbq, outside dining table and chairs and sun loungers. There is parking for 3 cars.

There are two flat screen tv's, a landline for free local calls, a bluetooth cd/radio and fast wi-fi.

Although in a lovely rural setting, the house is ideally situated for visiting all the local tourist attractions and charming villages and towns. Although a popular tourist area you will never find crowds and even in the summer the beaches are very quiet.

Kitchen and dining

The modern fitted kitchen contains a full size electric oven, microwave, dishwasher and large fridge-freezer. It comes with all the utensils and appliances you need, including a toaster, coffee machine and good quality pots and pans.

The dining table seats 6.

Living rooms

The lounge has 2 sofas and 2 chairs, seating 6/7 in comfort. The large woodburner makes the house ideal for winter and autumn holidays. There is a flat screen tv and dvd player, together with a bluetooth cd/radio. The room is newly decorated and relaxing. A traditional dresser contains a range of board games, cd's and dvd's. Folders of local information will give you ideas for days out - there is something in the area to suit all tastes - local markets, fetes, museums, gardens and for younger visitors a zoo and children's adventure playground.

At the other end of the house you will find a large conservatory, with exposed stone walls, overlooking the peaceful garden. Again there is a flat screen tv. Sofas and chairs provide a comfortable alternative living area.

Bedrooms

The master bedroom has a traditional oak king sized bed and matching bedside tables. There is a built in wardrobe with plenty of hanging space. The room is light and airy and newly decorated.


The second bedroom is at the back of the house overlooking the countryside. It has a wood frame double bed, a bookcase with a supply of modern paperbacks, bedside tables and a large fitted cupboard. Again it is bright and fresh and newly decorated.


The third bedroom has two twin beds, bedside tables and a dressing table. Like all the upstairs rooms it is decorated in neutral tones and a new carpet.


A travel cot is supplied (along with cot bedding if requested) which can be placed in any of the bedrooms.

Bathrooms

The master bedroom has a modern ensuite bathroom with full size, very comfortable bath. It is fully tiled in white with a storage unit, sink and wc. The perfect place to relax after a day sightseeing or relaxing in the garden.

There is a downstairs modern shower room with sink and walk in shower.

Also downstairs is a separate toilet.

Heating

A large woodburner heats the lounge in the autumn and winter months (logs are supplied). There are electric heaters in every room, making the house very cosy in the winter.

Entertainment

The lounge and conservatory both have modern flat screen tv's (English tv). The lounge has a dvd player. There is a bluetooth cd player/radio/speaker which is portable and can be used in any room. There is a supply of films, cd's and dvd's. A bookcase upstairs contains novels to suit most tastes and there is a collection of board games in the lounge dresser.

Garden and outside

Fully enclosed and safe for children and pets, the garden is around one third of an acre, surrounded by open countryside. Not overlooked by any neighbours it is perfect for making the most of the Normandy sunshine. There is a terrace with an outside dining table and chairs.

The garage also contains a spare fridge and freezer.

Parking and garages

Double wooden gates lead to a gravel drive where there is parking for 3 or 4 cars. The garage contains logs together with a spare fridge and freezer, together with the bbq, sunloungers and set of boules.

We love the peace and tranquillity of this area which is very different to living in the busy South East of England. We enjoy exploring the area and on each visit manage to find something new and interesting to do or explore.

Why this location? The gite is close to sandy beaches (8 kms) and ideally placed for visiting Mont St Michel, Bayeux and charming fishing harbours.The WW11 landing beaches are an hour away. The nearest town (3km) has all the amenities you need (good supermarkets, bars and restaurants together with lots of small independent shops). The area is ideal for walking and cycling, with a huge network of cycle tracks stretching for miles in every direction. There are lots of interesting places to visit that will suit all tastes, from beautiful gardens to charming villages and WW11 memorials and museums. If you like French markets there is one that you can visit every day of the week within an easy drive. Alternatively you may wish to enjoy the quietness and beauty of the surrounding countryside from the peaceful garden, not overlooked by neighbours. Mostly the only sound will be bird song but occasionally the local cockerel and donkey remind you that you are in the country.
