About the Owner/Advertiser, Mrs Jodie Read

My husband Tom and I started travelling to France in 2015 as part of a group with the South Wales MX5 car owners club. We fell in love with France and returned many times for holidays, taking in different parts of the country. Whilst we no longer have the sports car that first brought us to France, our love of the peaceful way of life has remained and in 2019 we were fortunate enough to be able to purchase our own Normandy farmhouse with a complex of three gites.

Year property purchased 2019
Why this location? For us, Normandy is simply amazing. It is close enough to the UK that it's easy for our guests to pop across on the ferry for a long weekend break. Once here, there is so much to see and do from the historic D-Day beaches and associated war museums to tourist attractions such as the fabulous Mont St. Michel, zoos, activities, restaurants and so much more besides! The setting of our Gite complex is in the beautiful rural village of Gorges in Manche. Our guests often comment on the peace and tranquility of the site.
Unique benefits of property The peace and tranquility of our rural setting make it the perfect spot for rest and relaxation. The village shop and tabac is only a pleasant 20 minute walk away, making it easy for our guests to pick up bread and croissants, or to enjoy a coffee (or a beer!) in the bar.

As animal lovers, we are happy to welcome pets by prior arrangement.

We are ideally located for access to the beaches. The lovely west coast beach of St. Geramin-Sur-Ay can be reached in 22 minutes, or Utah Beach is the nearest of the historic D-Day beaches and is only 25 minutes away on the east coast of the Cherbourg Peninsula. From Utah Beach, the historic town of St. Mere Eglise is only a short drive away.

Our location is easily accessible from the ferry ports. The nearest port is Cherbourg, which is just 50 minutes away. Caen is 70 minutes away. St Malo and Le Havre are both 2 hours away - so there is plenty of choice of easy access and not much driving to have to do once across the channel

The Owner Recommends

St. Germain Sur Ay Plage

The nearest beach is just 22 minutes drive from our Gites.

Golf Centre Manche

Keen golfers might like to know that Tom is too. He is a member of the Golf Centre Manche, which is just a 15 minute drive from our Gites. It's a nine hole course. Tom is normally joined by our dog, Flo.

St. Mere Eglise

Famed for its role in the D-Day paratrooper drops, St. Mere Eglise is a 'must visit' destination for anyone with an interest in World War II history.

Snekkja Restaurant

One of our favourite places to eat is the Snekkja Restaurant in Periers. We are especially fond of working our way through the menu of the day as it encourages us to try things that we mightn't otherwise have ordered - and so far we have loved it all!
