Les Coudreaux is a small hamlet deep in the beautiful Normandy countryside that has been lovingly converted into gites; it is a wonderful country retreat which perfectly combines the charm and atmosphere of the old with the comfort and convenience of the new.
When we first saw Les Coudreaux, it was a "romantic ruin" but we both knew instantly it was the place for us and we think you'll feel the same about your holiday here.
Basse Normandie is in easy reach of the ferry ports and has lots of things to see and do - all of which are within easy reach of your wonderful "home from home".
One of 2 cottages, Le Trou Normand is our lovely 2 bedroom gite which nestles between Le Petit Bijou and the indoor swimming pool. It is perfect for 2 couples or a family of 4. If you need to accommodate more people, why not check availability of Le Petit Bijou?
Le Trou Normand literally translated means "The Norman Hole"!If you want to understand more about what a Trou Normand really is, then come and stay with us and we'll be delighted to explain and even make a real one for you - they are delicious!
Downstairs, you will find an open plan living space with everything you need for a fantastic self catering holiday. We have retained the best of the original features of what was once a stable - exposed stone walls and oak beams. In the lounge area, you will find a stone fireplace and logburner, 2 comfortable sofas, tv and dvd player.
The kitchen is fully equipped with an electric oven, 4 ring gas hob and extractor fan. You will also find a dishwasher, fridge, freezer and plenty of storage space. In the dining area, there is an oak table and 4 chairs.
On the first floor, there are 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. Bedroom one has a comfortable double bed, wardrobe and dressing table. It is really light and airy and has the added bonus of a full length dormer window and lovely exposed beams.
Bedroom 2 has 2 snuggly single beds. It also has a wardrobe, dressing table and exposed beams. The views across the Norman landscape are spectacular.
The bathroom is light, bright and clean. There is a bath with shower over, wc and a modern rectangular sink. It is tastefully decorated with contemporary blue and white tiles.
Outside, access to a private deck area complete with barbecue, garden table and chairs and 2 sunloungers is via the kitchen door making it easy for those leisurely al fresco meals on balmy summer nights. By the end of June 2012, we will have added "Un jardin secret" - a secret garden, so you can lounge under the fruit trees in you own private corner of Normandy.
We are delighted to offer you a complimentary welcome basket with all the basics to get you going.
Our aim is for you to have a perfect holiday and we really look forward to welcoming you soon.

|Why this location?||Les Coudreaux is a small hamlet deep in the beautiful Normandy countryside. It's a relaxing, peaceful haven which is also close to lots of interesting places to visit and things to do. We have two luxury gîtes which we love and we hope you will too!|
|Unique benefits of property||Les Coudreaux is a wonderful country retreat which perfectly combines the charm and atmosphere of the old with the comfort and convenience of the new - a little bit of luxury in this truly wonderful part of rural France. However, please don't take our word for it - you can find what our guests think on our website - www.giteslescoudreaux.com|
Charming crêperie with a delicious menu and a very warm welcome - you'll want to go back! One of several lovely restaurants within an easy drive of Le Petit Bijou.
This is a "must see" - superb abbey built on a rock in the Bay of Mt St Michel. Wonderful cobbled streets and quaint village which winds its way up the hill to the abbey - a feat of faith, ingenuity and engineering! Great restaurants selling fantastic seafood.
Fantastic market at St Hilaire du Harcouët on Wednesday mornings - wonderful Normandy cheeses, fruit, vegetables, seafood and fish etc. Plus lots more besides - you can even look at the livestock on sale e.g. chickens, rabbits etc. Well worth a trip.
We had a fantastic week, everything was perfect !
The guesthouse has very good facilities and the decoration is lovely. We enjoyed the swimming pool, the playroom and the bikes, in addition to the many visits nearby.
The cherry on the cake: Lynne and Simon are amazing hosts, you'll quickly feel comfortable in their cottage !
We can't wait to go back …
(sorry for my bad english)
Thank you so much for your wonderful review written in perfect English :-) It was such a pleasure for us to welcome you and we really look forward to seeing you again soon! Very best regards. Lynne and Simon
Le Trou Normand is one of two gites on site and the largest, offering comfortable accommodation for 4 adults, although on this visit it was occupied by my wife and I. There are 2 bedrooms, one with single beds and the other with a double bed. There is a single well equipped bathroom. The owners, Lynne and Simon live in an adjacent property and on arrival Lynne took us on a personal tour of our gite and the various amenities available to us e.g small indoor heated swimming pool, games room, outdoor seating areas and the free use of bicycles. The gite itself was immaculately presented and very well maintained. It was equipped with everything you need for a self catering holiday and the crockery and bed linen/towels were of a high standard. The gites at Les Coudreaux are set in rural Normandy, with extensive views across farmland. It is about 1 hour driving time to Mont Saint Michel and the picturesque village of St Ceneri Le Gerei and only 20 kms to the medieval town of Domfront. The roads in the immediate area are virtually traffic free, allowing you to cycle or walk in the countryside if you choose.
The hosts Lynne and Simon could not have been more friendly and helpful. You can have a dinner provided for you by your hosts from a good menu choice at a reasonable charge of 25 Euros per head. The meal we had was delicious. We loved our time at Le Trou Normand and we would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a high quality gite in a peaceful setting.
Dear Audrey and Malcolm, thank you both so much for such a lovely review! It was a great pleasure to welcome you to Les Coudreaux and we are so glad you enjoyed your holiday. It was really lovely to meet you and we really hope to see you again one day! With our very best wishes. Lynne & Simon

Hard to see how anyone would not enjoy this accomodarion and the surrounding areas
Thank you so much for your lovely review - we really appreciate it! It was such a pleasure to welcome you to Les Coudreaux and we very much look forward to seeing you again soon! Warmest regards. Lynne & Simon
