About this property

Alme is a Stunning Gite in the Heart of Rural Normandy. This cottage/gite is in a rural setting.

Alme is one of 3 gites within the historic Normandy estate of Haras du Gazon, making it suitable for both large parties and celebrations. The other gites are called Baloubet and Double Espoir.
Alme is hidden away in the heart of rural Normandy, yet easy to reach: immerse yourself in the fabulous French countryside at the Haras du Gazon, only 45 minutes drive from the bustling Channel port at Caen, and less than 3 hours from Paris airport (Charles de Gaulle). Ideal for those who prefer the tranquillity of ‘la terre’ (countryside) to the Tourist buzz of ‘la mer’ (the coastline). Basing yourself in this privileged position in the geographical heart and centre of the region, allows you to make interesting day trips to all of the famous sights and discover the varied scenery of this ancient French province, just across the English Channel.
Alme sleeps up to 12 guests: 3 en suite double bedrooms and one super sized bedroom with 6 single beds, toilet and shower. Modern kitchen, washing machine, dishwasher, 2 tvs and dvd players. Gas central heating, broadband internet.
Cot and baby equipment available if required.
First, make yourself at home in the stylish gites/self-catering apartments and enjoy the glorious rural setting. Then take in the stunning grounds, gardens, shared swimming pool and tennis courts of this fabulous, historic Normandy countryside estate. Later on you can then venture further afield to explore the renowned sites of the region.
The double arches of the original coach house have allowed space for huge windows, which now let light stream through the entrance and upper storey. Walk into the generous sized terracotta tiled modern kitchen with large farmhouse dining table. A sweeping wooden staircase takes you up to the next floor with its oak beamed vaulted living area. Modern comfortable furnishings complement the floor to ceiling windows and exposed creamy Caen stonework. This is a great place to sit and chat or dine and watch tv/dvds.
Three lovely double bedrooms are also on this level. Large windows with shutters and pretty curtains allow brilliant views of either the formal parterre or the outer courtyard and fields beyond. All of these rooms feature sleigh beds and solid wood furniture. Large, light shower room/toilets are en suite.
Up again to the loft where the whole floor is now an appealing cosy room for 6 large single beds. Another tv and dvd player and a further shower room and toilet complete this oak-beamed additional living space.
With all of the elements for a very special holiday destination; from the rich variety of culture and tradition to high energy activities, or just plain indulgence in cuisine and spa days, one visit to Haras du Gazon might not be enough!

We had a wonderful week in this beautiful establishment. We were 2 families, plus Granny (5 adults, 4 children and 1 baby) and the Gite we stayed in (a converted stable!!) was absolutely perfect for us all. The rooms are large and comfortable and the children's dormitory in the roof was like something out of Harry Potter! The grounds are gorgeous to wander around, with an extremely large semi-indoor pool, tennis court and lake - to watch the cheeky Coypu at play! The games room was a big hit with the kids and we had fun exploring the area and enjoying the wild swimming in the stunning rivers.

Anne and Tim are extremely friendly and relaxed and will help you make the most of your stay.

Excellent Gite - clean and tastefully decorated - everything you need for a self catering holiday.

The Gite sits in over 300 aces of beautiful Normandy countryside and includes a games room, swimming pool and tennis courts on site (all of which were used by our teenagers).

Perfect for family gatherings and to explore what Normandy has to offer.
