If you want a lovely house with first class hosts, in a beautiful setting, then La Drutiere is for you. The house was our base for a week of D Day anniversary related activity and although an hour or so from the coast, the roads are great and it gave us opportunity to visit places not normally seen. Falaise, for example, home of William (the Conqueror) has a magnificent castle and you could easily spend a day there, with a nice long lunch of course.
Back to the house which was well equipped and very comfortable although words of warning - quite a few steps and steep staircases so challenging if mobility is an issue. The main kitchen was our evening haven, and the eight of us enjoyed some great suppers there, washed down with plentiful local wine and cider. The garden is a delight, with loads of space and much to keep the grown up kids entertained from Table Tennis world championships to water polo in the pool. Much fun was had by all.
Pippa and Gary were perfect hosts - welcoming and helpful when needed but unobtrusive.
We would have no issue in recommending La Drutiere to others and would certainly return.
An amazing, beautiful property. Would highly recommend. Ideal if you want to relax but also plenty in the area to do. Incredibly clean and very well equipped. Every last detail thought of so everything you need is there. The owners, Pip and Gary, are lovely. Available if you need them but at the same time very discrete. Would definitely visit again.

It was wonderful to meet you all and Tilly :-) and we hope to see you all again one day soon.

We had a truly amazing time at La Drutiere and would highly recommend it as a v homely place to stay. We were made to feel very welcome by the owners and the farmhouse/gite was beautifully maintained and very clean. We particularly enjoyed the stunning panoramic countryside view from the bedroom and even though the weather was mostly cloudy/rainy we braved the outdoor heated pool and enjoyed playing ping pong outside and mini pool inside! It was very kind of the owners to have a Welcome food box of goodies for us on arrival too. Lovely local bakery and handy supermarket in Carrouges and we enjoyed visiting Le Pin-au-Haras horse show, Falaise WWII museum, Ferte-Mace lake,Bagnoles d'Orne spa town, the Carrouges Chateau, Honfleur and enjoyed dinners out at the recommended eateries. A thoroughly enjoyable stay - thank you Gary & Pip!
We consisted of four couples and we all had a wonderful week at La Drutiere. With warm weather we spent a lot of time in the extensive garden, round and in the pool and in the bbq area which both had large tables and seating for eating. We also enjoyed the table tennis and the bicycles which the owners Pip and Gary left out for us at our request . Pip and Gary live on site in an adjoining house but their presence was very low key and the garden area they used was at the opposite end of the buildings to the pool and large garden we had access was our own private area. They did however go out of their way to be helpful and left us a few surprises during the week which I won't spoil for others.
Cleanliness is only marked down a bit because the bbq hadn't been cleaned by previous guests. I have no doubt that if we mentioned it
Pip and Gary would have cleaned it for us but we were happy to do this ourselves. Everything else was clean and welcoming with fresh
flowers in the lounge and master bedroom.
There were 6 bedrooms but the dining table in the kitchen only comfortably sits 8 unless extended using a further small table. As it
turned out we ffrequently ate outside where there would have been
room to sit more people.
One person in our group who suffers with a bad back found the mattresses in the farmhouse uncomfortable and although she tried a different bed it didn't really help.
We had a delightful week at La Drutiere and would definitely recommend it. Thank you.😃
