Le Cottage Normand is a beautiful, traditional Normandy Colombage farmhouse. It is believed to date back to the late 17th century with later additions made in the 18th Century.
The property has been sympathetically restored to a high standard by the current owners who believe that guests will love it as much as they do. The combination of traditional Normandy charm and the convenience of 21st century living make this a fantastic place to relax, away from the hustle and bustle of modern living.
The ground floor comprises a spacious lounge, kitchen/dining room, cloakroom, toilet and utility room which includes a washing machine, tumble dryer and toilet. The original goat barn has been converted into a snug that is accessed from the lounge and ideal for even quieter moments!
The first floor is accessed from the lounge and has 3 bedrooms. The master bedroom has a bath and en suite wc and washbasin. There is a separate shower room and 2 further bedrooms.
Le Cottage Normand is ideal for families who seek peace and quiet in a calm, rural setting or perhaps even a romantic location for a honeymoon couple!
It is ‘far from the madding crowd’ but provides an excellent base to visit the many attractions of the region. The village of Torchamp is 8 minutes away where there is a small shop and bar and restaurant. In the opposite direction, the beautiful medieval town of Domfront is a 7 minute drive. Here you will find supermarkets, chemists, restaurants and hairdressers but the real joy is the history. The castle (with dungeons!) is linked to William the Conqueror and the 100-year war and the square in the centre of town is simply beautiful, with cobbled streets and timber houses everywhere. The view from the castle is spectacular.
A short walk through the castle grounds takes you to a house built into the side of the cliff where you will find a plaque that commemorates the hiding of airmen, by the French resistance, during WWII.
Twenty minutes from Domfront, you find the ‘belle epoque’ spa town of Bagnoles de l’Orne and 1 hour in the other direction sees you at the Normandy coast.
A £200 security Bond is applicable returnable after departure.

We would highly recommend this beautiful holiday property.
Great care has been taken during the renovation of this traditional property, with much attention to detail. It has the feel of a traditional rural residence, whilst providing all the creature comforts! Outside is as pretty as a picture (passing cyclists stopped to take photos!) and the inside is equally beautiful. The master bedroom is stunning, with an amazing picture window looking across fields.
The owners gave us a warm welcome and careful introduction to how things worked. They also left us cider and samples from a local patisserie! Delicious. The house was very clean and well maintained, with everything provided that we might need.
The rural setting was peaceful, but just minutes away from Domfront. This small town has pretty streets, boulangerie, patisserie, cafes, restaurants, a castle with stunning views, and a convenient supermarket. We found plenty to do in the surrounding area, to keep our older children entertained.
We could not fault this property for comfort, appeal or provision of every detail.
The quiet country setting was a welcome break from the 'hustle and bustle' and there was plenty of equipment provided for activities/entertainment. The owners were very helpful; the only difficulty was finding the property as we had been re-routed on our way and did not have detailed directions for a different direction of approach.
We will most certainly be recommending Le Fiaudiere to friends and family.
What a great place to spend a week!!! Everything we needed was available, the place was clean and comfortable. The hosts Mike and Lynda were friendly and made us welcome on arrival - and they included some pear cider to help us start our holiday. Great spot nestled amongst the cows and lovely open green fuelds - just what we needed to clean out the city cobwebs. Situated in easy travelling distance to dine great villages and amusements, we had no trouble filling our week with fun and delightful adventures. Highly recommended
Le Cottage is everything you could wish for in a Normandy retrea. A warm welcome from the owners and a beautifully clean and comfortable home from home.
The area is perfect for a peaceful break away, with plenty to do for those wishing to explore the area.
Looking forward to a return visit. Would recommend this lovely place to anyone.
It is such a pleasure to host guests as lovely and respectful as Sara and her family. As soon as we met them we knew that 'Le Cottage' was in safe hands!
Unfortunately we didn't get to meet them again as they left very early in the morning. When we arrived it had been left in a lovely condition.
Thank you all.
Welcome back anytime.
