Le Cottage Normand is a beautiful, traditional Normandy Colombage farmhouse. It is believed to date back to the late 17th century with later additions made in the 18th Century.
The property has been sympathetically restored to a high standard by the current owners who believe that guests will love it as much as they do. The combination of traditional Normandy charm and the convenience of 21st century living make this a fantastic place to relax, away from the hustle and bustle of modern living.
The ground floor comprises a spacious lounge, kitchen/dining room, cloakroom, toilet and utility room. The original goat barn has been converted into a snug that is accessed from the lounge and ideal for even quieter moments!
The first floor is accessed from the lounge and has 3 bedrooms. The master bedroom has a bath and en suite wc and washbasin. There is a separate shower room and 2 further bedrooms.
Le Cottage Normand is ideal for families who seek peace and quiet in a calm, rural setting or perhaps even a romantic location for a honeymoon couple!
It is ‘far from the madding crowd’ but provides an excellent base to visit the many attractions of the region. The village of Torchamp is 8 minutes away where there is a small shop and bar and restaurant. In the opposite direction, the beautiful medieval town of Domfront is a 7 minute drive. Here you will find supermarkets, chemists, restaurants and hairdressers but the real joy is the history. The castle (with dungeons!) is linked to William the Conqueror and the 100-year war and the square in the centre of town is simply beautiful, with cobbled streets and timber houses everywhere. The view from the castle is spectacular.
A short walk through the castle grounds takes you to a house built into the side of the cliff where you will find a plaque that commemorates the hiding of airmen, by the French resistance, during WWII.
Twenty minutes from Domfront, you find the ‘belle epoque’ spa town of Bagnoles de l’Orne and 1 hour in the other direction sees you at the Normandy coast.
A £200 security Bond is applicable returnable after departure.

Thanks guys. You two were great guests. Really glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the lovely review.
We spent a wonderful week in the cottage. On arrival we received a warm welcome and thorough tour from Lyn and Mike. This really set the scene for our week and with clear explanations of how everything worked, we instantly relaxed and started the job of chilling out and relaxing.
The cottage is beautiful and provided everything we could of wished for. Lyn and Mikes attention to detail ensured Grandparents, Parents and Teenagers were all catered for. Bikes, hot tub and bbq set us up for the first couple of day and the weather was perfect.
The location is ideal. Tranquil countryside right outside the front door and a short drive to local amenities. Plenty of places of interest nearby to explore and practice speaking French. Le Mont St Michel was just an hour and a half drive.
We fell in love with Normandy. The week just flew by and it was home time much too soon. We would highly recommend this cottage.
What a lovely family. We are so pleased that they enjoyed their experience at the Cottage. Please come back! Great guests.
We had an absolutely brilliant time at Le Cottage Normand. The description and photos didn't do it justice. Mike and Lyn have thought of everything so you know you have everything to hand to ensure your stay is the best it can possibly be. You can tell how much effort they have put into the place. The attention to detail is remarkable and you feel welcome staying there and well informed about the property and the surrounding activities.
I would recommend this to anyone looking to stay somewhere peaceful and relaxing. It's an amazing cottage and will certainly be returning. The local town doesn't offer that much to do but there are plenty of place locally within 20 minutes which offers more. It's a great location to explore the region and you feel very safe. Regardless of the weather you will not be disappointed.
Ben, Maria & the children were an absolute pleasure to host. They were both polite and courteous and had total respect for the Cottage. The place was absolutely immaculate when they left. They enjoyed the local amenities and explored many different locations. So apart from just enjoying the peace and quiet they experienced many of the interesting places in and around Normandy. The Wisteria on the Cottage was in full bloom when they arrived. Ben told us that he didn't know what Wisteria was but that's because he's not as old as us! Lol. 10/10 guests. Welcome back whenever.
