Some reviews from our website and Trip advisor:
July 2016 "Mantilly, the text book definition of perfect"
After a long and scenic drive we arrived at Mantilly cottage and were immediately struck by the peace and quiet. The cottage is perfect for a couple to get away and hide from the noise and haste or modern life. It's an ideal base for exploring or indeed staying in and reading whilst sat in the garden (remember to say hello to the cows). We will be sure to return in th not too distant future. Just brilliant!!!

We were in France for the football..which was mad..and should have booked another stay in the cottage on the way home to Ireland to recover..This is a Gem for total peace and quiet.
10/05/16 “Mantilly cottage is the perfect holiday home.”
We found Mantilly a lovely place to base ourselves for our holiday. We found so many places to visit explore and enjoy. All we needed in a holiday. Although weather was seasonal we found every comfort in our holiday home. Home from home.
10/06/15 "Relaxing & Peaceful"
Having spent a week at the Cottage in Mantilly we came away very relaxed and chilled…..just what we needed. The cottage was very private and comfortable with most of the creature comforts of home. Having English tv was great as it kept us in touch with what was going on even though we enjoy French as well. There are so many beautiful places to visit around this area so this was very central for our purpose. I would highly recommend a stay at the Cottage. Thank you to the owners who were fantastic and so helpful.
11/05/15 "Lovely accommodation, perfectly positioned in interesting part of France"
All the attractions in this lovely part of France are within easy reach. The owners have provided all info you could possibly need in their description. Very friendly people in this area. Perfect for walking, cycling, driving and just generally exploring. Great French lunch in village restaurant, very reasonably priced. Menu of the day only, when we were there, so best to check if you are going to like it. We definitely did like. Local markets and villages especially interesting, all with their own character. Would recommend a visit. We will come again for sure. As we were only here for 6 days, there must be loads more for us to enjoy.
15/04/15 "Relaxed, comfortable, peaceful, convenient"
We spent 4 sun filled days in Mantilly. The cottage was very homely and had everything we needed for a relaxing break. We were able to enjoy the quiet location and countryside views with a glass of wine and a good book. The pretty village has a shop, boulangerie and friendly restaurant serving lunchtime meals and evening drinks. The location is ideal for exploring the area. Mont St Michel is well worth a visit, although gets very busy, and there are several markets in the surrounding towns and villages. Our trip was too short and we will be back.

After enjoying holidays in the beautiful areas of Manche and Orne in Normandy for several years, we were lucky enough to be able to buy this beautiful cottage late in 2014. We use the cottage for our own holidays in France, and in 2015 we decided to make it available for rental to other guests as well.

|Why this location?||We love the beautiful scenery of this part of Normandy, which can be enjoyed by car, bicycle and foot. It is such a peaceful place where we can relax and unwind, but also take part in activities such as kayaking, and sightseeing. The roads are quiet and the cottage is easily reached from all major ports and airports in northern France. The weather is sunny and warm during the summer months, and for the winter months, the cottage is a cosy retreat to return to after days out.|
|Unique benefits of property||Our cottage is detached with its own private garden, but is a short walk to the village bar and boulangerie. It has two living rooms making the accommodation flexible enough to sleep 4 people in two separate rooms. My wife and I and our two dogs had a wonderful escape to the peace and quiet of Mantilly for a week in October. After the stress of a city the only sounds we heard were the church bells and the odd tractor taking pears to the distillery! We loved the walks nearby and the safe garden of the cottage. A lovely Autumn break with the colour of the countryside around. We plan to return in the Spring for the pear blossom!
The cottage was as described and owners made good contact with us, it was clean and ready for our arrival.this cottage is not luxurious but despite provide everything you need. We had dogs and it works well with them as it has a small secure garden and the floors are tiled. There was no evidence of other dogs staying.
The bed although large is not that comfy, mattress a bit firm, no set topping. We took our quilt which we laid on to give a bit of comfort. Otherwise it is all fine and is excellent value. Loads of really hot water for the shower which is really powerful.
There is a really effective wood burner but you do need to provide your own logs. We brought 7 bags from home and used them all, it was cold weather.
Would stay again with dogs.
Thanks for your comments Lesley. Apologies for the mattress, it hasn't been raised to us before, but we will look to provide a set topping for future guests. Glad you felt it was good value, we do try to make it so, hence we decided not to provide logs as we would have to charge an additional fee to cover this cost. We do notify guests in our welcome document prior to arrival so hopefully others can be as prepared as yourselves! There are logs available to purchase locally also (details provided at the cottage). Thanks again for taking the time to provide valuable feedback it's much appreciated. Chris and Sally
Mantilly Cottage is the ideal base for a relaxing break or for visiting south Nornandy. Its description matches the reality. It's clean, comfortable & well-maintained for an old building, and the owners provide excellent service/information. We would certainly recommend it & may well go again.
We sought peace and relaxation so did not venture far. The local bar/restaurant is excellent for a plat de jour & local knowledge (landlady is English), & the boulangerie & shop are fine. Markets are further away & we would go further than the nearest for a better array of produce than in Gorron.
The Memorial Museum at Caen is fascinating, & convenient to visit en route to/from the ferry port.
Dear Ann, we're really pleased you both enjoyed your stay, as the most important thing to us is that all of our guests have a great holiday. Thank you for taking the time to add a review it means a lot to us. Chris and Sally
Wonderful cosy cottage, well equipped, excellent location.
Having stayed here during the winter months we were enjoying our days out, but always looking forward to returning to the cottage, getting the woodburner lit and a nice bottle of wine opened as it was very homely and warm.
The surrounding countryside is great for walks, with plenty to see and do. The cottage is on the edge of Mantilly village, which has everything needed and we highly recommend the Au Petit bar / restaurant for lunch (4-5 courses for around €12). Nearby the village of Passais is also worth a visit / walk to.
The cottage itself is well equipped and comfortable with everything you need to hand. As it was winter we did not get to enjoy the full bloom of the garden as in the photo's, but can see how splendid and secluded it would be in the warmer months.
Overall opinion is that we would recommend this place to anyone and thank the owners for making such an effort with guests and the cottage.
Thankyou for your kind comments. We do our best to try to do all we can to ensure that our guests have a relaxing and enjoyable holiday, so it is great to have such good feedback, thankyou.
