About this property

Lovely Comfortable Bungalow In Idyllic Rural Setting. This cottage/gite is in a rural setting.

An idyllic vacation in rural Normandy!

La Faverie is a pretty two-bedroomed gîte situated near Mantilly, a charming and traditional village and «La Capitale du Poiré»! The gîte is located in the heart of the countryside, in a small, rural hamlet – the perfect place for a calm and relaxing stay.
Enjoy breakfast on the patio overlooking the spectacular countryside; spend the day exploring the historical delights of the region or lazing on one of the many nearby beaches; then indulge in a relaxing bbq in the garden, or experience fine French cuisine in one of the area’s many excellent restaurants.

The gîte has everything you’ll need for up to 4 people:
* 2 bedrooms, each with a double bed, double wardrobe, night tables, etc.
* a wc/ bathroom (with shower)
* a utility room, with a washing machine and space to store your luggage
* a lounge/diner with a fully-equipped, modern kitchen (oven, fridge-freezer, microwave, crockery, etc.)

Outside, there’s a spacious patio (with a bbq and patio dining set provided), and the view over the surrounding countryside is really magnificent – you’re not overlooked at all! There’s also a small, landscaped rockery, a garage and private parking for several cars.
The gîte is single-storey, so it’s ideal for people with limited mobility. There are just two small steps outside leading up to the entrance.
It’s a perfect place to spend your holidays in both summer and winter, and there are lots of things to do in the area!  The Normandy coast is famous for its D-Day landing beaches (Omaha, Juno, etc.); you can pay a visit to Domfront with its beautiful, medieval castle; spend the day at Mont St. Michel (60km) browsing through the shops and touring the abbey; or visit Bagnoles de l’Orne (30km) with the thermal spa, casino, castle, beautiful lake and the free, open-air concerts in summer.  If you prefer to spend the day closer to home, relaxing in the gîte, it’s incredibly well-equipped… with a bbq, television, 4 bicycles, jigsaw puzzles, games and books, etc., so you will never be bored!

Fully refurbished in 2013, with even more improvements made during 2015, La Faverie is the ideal place for your stay in the beautiful French countryside, close to the beaches, towns and tourist sites.

We have lived in this beautiful area for almost three decades, so we’re happy to help you with suggestions and ideas for your stay, or any help you may need with the French language.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us for any information or for a quote… we’re ready to welcome you to our charming little gîte in the heart of rural Normandy!

The Owner Recommends

Must see!

A visit wouldn't be complete without a trip to the world-famous Mont St Michel, one of the wonders of the modern world! Nearer to home, visit the spa town of Bagnoles de l'Orne, with its chic restaurants and shops. Closer still is the medieval town of Domfront, which hosts a medieval pageant in August (every two years). And don't forget to try the local speciality - poiré - a sparkling,refreshing cider, but made with pears. Our neighbours produce poiré and cider, and will always be ready to welcome you to a tasting! Enjoy the beautiful gardens at Colombier du Plessis, or stroll through the floral village of Saint Fraimbault. Further afield the D-Day landing beaches are within reach, as are the seaside towns of St Malo, Granville and Julouville. Whichever direction you take, you will find places of interest for all ages and all tastes. La Faverie is an ideal base for exploring this unspoilt corner of Normandy.
