We also have a video player and a large library of vintage videos, plenty of childrens films including lots of Disney.
Above the salon is a mezzanine (4th bedroom), with double bed and en suite shower room - this room is not suitable for young children due to the steep staircase and open plan nature of the space.
There are 3 bedrooms on the second floor accessed by a staircase from the kitchen, a double (king size antique brass bed) with tv monitor, a large twin room and a pretty smaller room with a single and a fold up single bed- there is a "Jack & Jill" wc accessible as an en suite from the double room and by the other rooms via a second door, this is very handy indeed at night!
On the ground floor, off the corridor is a family wet room with two sinks and a large custom built mosaic bath, ideal for young children.
On the mezzanine floor there is a shower room and wc.
There is a "Jack & Jill" wc on the first floor

Outside, there is a small piece of land at the rear of the cottage which backs on to fields but the main area is the very large orchard at the front of the cottage, perfect for running around and playing games or simply finding a quiet spot and chilling out.
There is a patio area with lovely views across the valley, with new outdoor seating and barbecue, this is a secluded spot, very private and not overlooked - pyjamas all day if you wish....
There is ample parking in front of the cottage for several cars.
There is no disabled access. Very young children should be supervised.
An abundance of apples and blackberries in season - please feel free to eat and enjoy!
Lee and I have owned the cottage at La Mare for almost 10 years now. We are totally in love with France and all things French! We bought another property, a small Medieval Chateau in the Hautes Vienne region in the Spring of 2015 and we are currently in the process of turning this into another delightful holiday destination. Please look at our other ad for further details. We now spend more than half of our time in France and can certainly recommend it - come and see for yourself!

|Why this location?||La Mare is a small hamlet in the Orne region of Lower Normandy, located between the towns of Flers and Domfront, the nearest small town is Lonlay L’Abbaye, famous for it’s Abbey and Biscuit Factory! Nestling amongst the verdant pastures, hills and orchards of this beautiful part of France, it is a place for perfect peace and relaxation - a truly tranquil location, far from the madding crowds. The gentle moo of lovely Normandy cows and birdsong are almost the only sounds you hear and yet Lonlay L'Abbaye with shops, bars and restaurant are only 10 minutes away by car, the beautiful medieval town of Domfront is 20 mins to the South, whilst Flers with an abundance of shops etc lies 20 mins to the North. La Mare is perfectly located for trips to the Normandy Beaches and a day trip to Paris is possible by fast train from Flers.|

Our nearest small town with a small supermarket, restaurant, bar and other shops, also a cash machine and petrol station. There is a beautiful ancient Abbey to visit and a famous biscuit factory! You can make a tour of the factory and buy their delicious products from the factory shop.
A large market held every Wednesday and Saturday morning in front of the Cathedral. There are also plenty of shops in Flers, both independents and the large chains - spoilt for choice when it comes to supermarkets, they're all there!
We don't play ourselves, but we understand this is a very good course in a beautiful setting, Bagnoles de L'Orne is a pretty spa town, popular with Parisiens.
There is also a large leisure lake, spa and a gambling casino and plenty of bars and restaurants.
The D-Day Beaches, Pegasus Bridge, the Memorial de Caen, Mortain (US Memorial) and other historic sites are all within easy reach.
This famous destination point is certainly worth a visit, about 1 hour 20 by car.
Ths makes a lovely day trip, pack up a picnic and off you go!
An ancient beautiful castle, well worth a visit, about 45 mins away. On route, stop off and look at the picturesque, moated Chateau at Joue du Bois.
Walk around Fosse Arthour. Stunning riverside walk, through the woods, along a peaceful lane , with great views over the Domfrontaise countryside. Starts and end in a country park/car park with a restaurant/creperie for a reward when you get back.
We had a lovely few days staying at La Mare. The gite is rural which is just what we were looking for! Inside it's very cosy, with log burners in both the kitchen and living room and we really enjoyed just relaxing and going for long walks in the local area. The kitchen is very well equipped so some lovely meals were cooked, plus the wet room downstairs was a bonus!
Thanks Angela, really glad you enjoyed your time at La Mare and hope you will return one day!

We really did enjoy this lovely cottage and the invironment in fully nature!
Thank you Jens, we are really glad that you had a lovely time at La Mare!
As a group of friends we have been coming to La Mare for many years to chill out and relax. We love the rural setting. The description of the property is accurate. As with any older property, there are on-going maintenance requirements and occasional problems which are dealt with if you contact the owner. We tend to stay on the property during our stay, chilling out and relaxing during the day and sitting in the garden or round the large kitchen table at night. We do a big shop in Flers or Domfront and have occasionally undertaken the walk to the lovely village of Lonlay L'Abbaye for it's small shop, bars and restaurants. Make sure you stock up on food etc on a Saturday, there's very little open on a Sunday in Rural France.
Thanks Alison and pals, glad you have once again enjoyed your time at La Mare - really appreciate the feedback too.
