Just 2 miles from La Vente is the village of St Fraimbault famous for its spring and summer flower displays for which it has consistently won national awards. There are some lovely walks particularly around the boating lake.
There is a lovely restaurant which serves suberb food
Just 10km away is the lovely medieval town of Domfront dominated by its cliff top Chateau. One of France's " Petites Citie's de Caractiere a pleasant place to wander around. A hub of the local community with a popular weekly market andf several restaraunts.
This UNESCO listed site is a "must see" on any trip to Normandy when you approach the site of the abbey appearing to rise from the sea is magnificent. Just under an hour away from La Vente you will be ideally located for a memorable trip.
We are an 80 minute drive from the D-Day beaches you can spend a day discovering the events of 6 June 1944 and visit the beaches and museums in the area. A visit to the American Cemetery overlooking Omaha Beach is humbling.
Lays claim to have the largest castle in Europe whatever its size it is impressive. Sitting at the gateway to Brittany it has guarded the border for centuries. On Saturdays there is a lovely market.
Sitting in the middle of a forest this spa/casino tower was the brainchild of an American entrepreneur over a century ago this little town is impressive. A walk around the lake is lovely with coffee at one of the cafe's. If you fancy a flutter try out the lakeside casino. In the summer months there are regular antique markets.
Outside the town are numerous walking/cycling routes through the forest.
The area is dotted with walk/cycle ways at the Gite we have a number of suggested routes that start right from the doorstep. For those seeking the gentle routes there are a number of redundant railway lines and for the more adventurous there are many tracks through the forests.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at La Vente. It was just the right size and was ideally situated just outside the village of Passais-la-Conception (although took us more like 15 minutes to stroll there). Our host Glenn was excellent, welcomed us on arrival and showed us around. He gave us a good indication of what sort of things were available locally. There was a welcome package.
The Gite is attached to the owner's house (they are English and live on site) and comprises a lounge/diner/kitchen and an upstairs bedroom. The bathroom/toilet is on the ground floor. If I had one small criticism is that the sink in the toilet is much too small (OK for the room but not much use for washing and shaving).
There is a TV with English television and Wifi is available and free.
The area is farming country and so you get the sights/sounds of farming (there is a small farm nearby.
The advert and picture were spot on.
There is a bakery (boulangerie/patisserie) in the village along with a bar (which is run by English people and provides good food for lunch and evening. On Sundays a roast dinner is also available.
My partner and I would no hesitation in recommending this Gite which is about 90 minutes drive from Ouistreham.
Robert thank you so much for your review. It was lovely to meet you both and that you had such a good time here. I will change the details on walking time to the village.
We hope to see you again
Warm welcome to a very comfortable gite. Despite the freezing conditions the wood burner helped to keep us nice and toasty.
Well placed to visit Fougeres and Lessy les Chateux.
Bar and bakers available in village. Several places to eat lunch in vicinity
Many thanks for your review it is very much appreciated. We always try to provide the best accommodation.

A beautiful gite, close to a local village with a butcher, baker and supermarket. Fantastic area for cycling with loads of great routes. Glenn and Samantha were kind and helpful and welcoming, this included a lovely basket of surprises. Glenn certainly know the area and is very willing to help plan what to visit, this included a map with attractions highlighted. The accommodation was perfect with everything necessary to make our stay perfect. We would certainly revisit.
