About the Owner/Advertiser, Mrs Barbara Rix

Love the french way of life and all that goes with it, especially the peace and quiet of rural living offered at Le Housset.

Year property purchased 2001
Why this location? My late husband worked in France and just fell in love with the French style of life. So, when I retired we bought this lovely 500 year old farmhouse, set in the rural countryside of Normandy. We bought the property in 2001 and I just love going there to “re-charge my batteries.” The nearby village of Chambois has a grocer, chemist, newsagent cum Bar and of course the baker...whose bread/croissants are great.”
Unique benefits of property A tranquil holiday cottage approximately 550 years old.

The Owner Recommends

Normandy is renowned for Camembert originating from the village of the same name. Tour the President farm factory to see the traditional tools and techniques that were originally used to make Camembert.

Le Haras du Pin - French National stud

About half an hour away there is Le Haras du Pin, which is the French National stud...the old stables are well worth looking round and of course, the Horses”

Camembert is about 7 km away and thereis an interesting museum and along one of the lanes is a farm shop where you can buy local cheese, cider and butter
