|Le Bas Chenay Farmhouse||Self Catering||Saturday||2||4||2|
Le Bas Chenay (also known as Chenais and Chesnay) is a delightful detached old farmhouse (Gite), full of character, with many exposed old beams and has been renovated to offer a very comfortable place to stay. It is set in 2.5 acres of very peaceful countryside surrounded by farmland and is opposite the owners house. The historical medieval town of Domfront is only 5 minutes drive away. An Intermarche is only 2 minute drive.
Le Bas is an ideal base to explore all that the region has to offer or you can relax in the garden taking in the beautiful surroundings.
Dine outside with only the bird song as company or just sit and watch the birds playing.
There is a spacious living room and well equipped kitchen/diner on the ground floor.
The kitchen/diner includes a gas cooker (gas bottle) fridge, tassimo, microwave and washing machine and dishwasher with a table that seats 4.
In the lounge area there are plenty of comfortable chairs, tv with UK satellite and French channels, and a dvd player with a selection of dvd's. Books, magazines and games are also available.
Wi-fi is also available .
The farmhouse sleeps 4 and has 2 bedrooms (1 double and 2 single beds) and 2 bathrooms upstairs (1 en suite).
The bedrooms do have sloping ceilings as they are built into the roof of the gite.
Double room has an en suite bathroom, with toilet, sink and bath. There are shower attachments to the bath taps.
The second bedroom has its own bathroom, with toilet, sink and bath, it is not en suite. There are shower attachments to the bath taps.
Please note that the bathrooms are built in the roof of the Gite. Therefore, there are sloping ceilings to both of the bathrooms.
The farmhouse is heated by electric thermostatically controlled wall heaters in the lounge and both bedrooms.
Tv with UK satellite and French channels. There is a dvd player with a selection of dvd's. Books, magazines and games are also available. We have a couple of outside games that are available to guests on request.
The farmhouse has a private garden with its own garden furniture. It has a dining area and a seating area, and is an ideal place to sit, relax and listen to the birdsong. You also have access to a lawned area which is to the back and side of the gite.
Parking is available outside the front of the Gite for 1 vehicle, however, there is a carport opposite which has room for another vehicle. The carport has height restrictions, so large vans will not be able to park in that area.
We welcome children from the age of 5 as we do not have the facilities within the gite for younger children.
The farmhouse is surrounded by working open farmland. The grounds are partially fenced off from the farmland.
We have a lovely pond, however in places this is 4ft deep, plus the height from the grass area is over 6 ft. Therefore children must be supervised near this area at all times.
There are 3 stone steps leading up to the front door of the property and all bedrooms and bathrooms are on the first floor.
We moved to France permanently in November 2018 after falling in love with the farmhouse and our home a converted barn.

|Why this location?||Domfront falls in the western part of the Regional Natural Parc of Normandy-Maine, with quiet unspoiled landscape of rolling hills, forests and streams. Our farmhouse is set in 2 acres of land surrounded by open farmland, but yet only 5 km from Domfront town centre. We have the best of both worlds.|
|Unique benefits of property||It is a converted farmhouse with many original features still in place, you can relax in peace and quiet or explore all that Normandy has to offer not far from our doorstep.|
Normandy is a region rich in history, beautiful countryside, beaches and visitor attractions.
Domfront - home town of Le Bas Chenay, with its remains of the ancient chateau, medieval churches, turrets, cobbled winding streets and centuries-old buildings and historical links to England. The countryside is green and undulating. It is perfect for walking, cycling and touring, particularly the Veloscenic cycle route Paris to Mont St Michel which you can join from Domfront along a disused railway line going through the typical quiet countryside of the Bocage Normand to Mont St Michel.
For the children there is Festyland at Caen, the Enchanted Village at Belle Fontaine, the zoo at Jurques and the water park at St Hilaire de Harcouet. There are also excellent swimming pools at Flers, Thury Harcout and Bagnoles de l'Orne.
The historical sights not to be missed are:
The D Day landing beaches - code named: Omaha, Sword, Juno, Gold and Utah.
Abbaye du Mont Saint Michel

1. Caen - chateau, abbeys, museums and shopping.

4.Bagnoles de l'Orne - the biggest spa town in western France, a charming town set around a large lake, overlooked by the casino.
