About this property

Character Château with Modern Swimming Pool. This chateau is in a village setting.

Having good food with a glass of excellent wine, enjoying regional delicacies, splashing in the pool, enjoying the after dinner quietness, walking in the unspoilt countryside and listening to the silence; it's all possible in and around our country home.

If you want "just" a lovely private vacation, or if you have something to celebrate with family, friends or colleagues, then this is a great location for it. Typically French, and located in one of the last areas without mass tourism. You are welcome to celebrate one or more weeks of vacation in this great holiday home, which is suitable for groups up to 10 persons.

The holiday home is surrounded by a park-like garden with swimming pool. Beside the pool there are lovely terraces (with sunbeds), and when the heat becomes too much, there is always the possibility to cool off in the shade of the large trees. In the walled garden are various seating areas.

On the ground floor you have access to: a large living room and an additional living room with television (Dutch, German, English) and a large kitchen with all appliances. There is also a second (small) kitchen with an extra fridge, an electric cooker and a washing machine. On the ground floor there is a double bedroom with a private shower, washbasin and a separate toilet.

On the first floor there are 2 single rooms and 3 double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, one with bath, both with toilet.

Entertainment

The château is situated at the edge of the charming village Arfeuilles in the department Allier in central France. In this clean and quiet environment you will really have a relaxing holiday.

You can walk, cycle, swim and canoe to your heart's desire. But you can also "shop until you drop" in Vichy, Clermont-Ferrand or Lyon, roam brocantes for bargains or visit one of the many medieval castles and villages. The French people, in this area, are particularly hospitable and open minded. This is the reason why you can quite easily communicate with them, if you feel like it. In short, there's something to do for everybody!

Within walking distance, in the village, is a bakery, a small supermarket, cafe/restaurant. The area is ideal for hiking and cycling (routes available on-site). You can also visit the castles in the region. In Vichy (famous for its thermal springs) you can still experience the cosmopolitan atmosphere of the past.

Garden and outside

The holiday home is surrounded by a park-like garden with views on the valley and mountains. In the walled garden are various seating areas/terraces. Beside the pool there are lovely terraces and sunbeds, and when the heat becomes too much, there is always a possibility to cool down in the shade of the large trees.
We have a delightful pool with clear blue water, "prêt à plonger" (ready to plunge in), all to yourself, in terms of depth going down from 44 to 74 inches. Easy and practical to use because of the Roman steps, also for the elderly and children. Made in one-piece of full polyester, and well finished with no sharp or rough edges. Equipped with an electronic alarm, which conforms to the latest French standards. No fences or barriers around the pool, so you have free access. As an additional safety measure for small children the "cour"(courtyard) around the pool can be locked.
You are expected to bring your own pool towels. Certainly you can wash them in our washing machine.

About the Owner, Mr Alle Laversma

I am married to Linda (sitting next to me in the picture), and a long time ago I used to be a teacher of English in secondary modern schools. The past 15 years I've been working in automation for a large publishing company as a infrastructural specialist (server systems, databases, networks, Internet and firewalls). Now my wife and I are enjoying our life in France, we're enjoying the country life and the local population and last but not least, we're enjoying the contact with our guests.

Year property purchased 2006
Why this location? Because of the beautiful nature, the friendly people and the peaceful surrounding.
Unique benefits of property We have a private swimming pool with a terrace.

The Owner Recommends

Chateau Lapalisse and Attraction park "Le pal"

You can visit the inside and outside of this castle. which is still owned by the family who once bought it in medieval times (more than 400 years ago). There a famous and valuable goblins to be seen. And the interior woodwork and ceilings are magnificent.

And nearby many more castles can be visited; Chateau de Busset, Chateau de Thoury, Chateau de Clamency, Chateau de Dre, etc.

Attraction park "Le pal" is suitable for all ages and offers a wonderful day trip for ALL group members, with all it's well maintained attractions.
Have a look at their website: (www.lepal.com/en) this will convince you. We can really recommend it from our own experience and from the experience of our guests. There are also 7 restaurants (ranging from very affordable to fairly expensive).
