About this property

Four Bed Converted Stone Barn with Pool. This villa is in a village setting.

On the edge of the medieval village of Exideuil sur-Vienne this converted barn dates back to the 1800s. The open plan split level layout offers lots of living space to stretch out and relax.
 
We are a 5 mins walk to village with bar/restaurant, bakery, pharmacy, tabac, Post Office and quaint medieval church. Snack bar, mini golf, restaurant available at the local campsite. A five mins drive takes you to Chabanais with all the amenities of a small town; local markets, supermarket, bank, tourist office and train station.

The accommodation comprises of a fully equipped kitchen in the lower level, the living room with a wood burning stove, master bedroom,walk-in shower plus separate wc.  The mezzanine level has 3 bedrooms, 1 double and 2 twins along with a shower room and toilet.

There are double doors from the kitchen leading out to a patio with table, chairs and parasol. Steps lead to pool with decked area where you will find 4 sunloungers are provided. The pool is open from July to September.
 
Ample parking is available to the side for guests and any visitors and we have a non-smoking policy

A 25% deposit with booking and the balance payable 8 weeks before arrival with £150 refundable security deposit.

The property is approximately 6hrs drive from Cherbourg/ Roscoff. Brittany ferries give 20% discount on sailings for our guests on all routes. A direct sailing is available from Cork to Roscoff for guests travelling from Ireland.( discount not available 26/6/19 to 6/7/19 outward & 5/7/19 to 19/7/19 return and can only be booked by phone on this route). Limoges airport is approximately 40 mins drive with Bordeaux and la Rochelle airports just over 2hrs drive away.

About the Owner/Advertiser, Mr David Parks

Having worked in the construction industry all my life I felt it would be good to take on a project that all the family could be involved with. It's only in the last few yrs now that our kids are adults and are off doing their own things that we decided to open the property to the holiday rental market. With my construction background I'm able to maintain the property to a high standard which is obviously of benefit to all who use it.

Why this location? The Charente region has one the highest "total hours of sunshine " in France. It's far enough south to get high temperatures whilst at the same time accessible via the cross channel ferries which meant for us travelling from Ireland it is possible to reach in 24hrs. This specific location in Charente was chosen simply because the area just oozes what we would describe as typical french village living. Bakery, tabac,bar, in the village with a small town only 5mins drive away.
Unique benefits of property This property has all the rustic charm associated with an old stone building but has all the comforts of a modern home. This was achieved by leaving the basic structure intact and constructing a modern home within it, whilst incorporating many original features

We had a fantastic stay at Chez Dave, the owners are lovely people and very helpful from moment of booking until leaving the property. They answered all our questions quickly and provided helpful tips and advice about driving to France. They were knowledgable about the local area which made our stay more enjoyable as we had lots to do.

The villa is beautiful and very clean, it has everything you need and more. It is very well maintained and much bigger and spacious than it looks in the pictures. It is a great space for a large family as it is open plan. Our children enjoyed the swimming pool and playing play pool in the evenings, they also enjoyed watching some films they had not seen before in the villa. The outside area is very sunny from morning until late at night so you can enjoy all day long sun. The area around the pool is great for chilling out and relaxing. There is plenty of seating for everyone to enjoy the outside area.

The village is very quiet, there are some lovely walks along the river, a bar and food at the local campsite and in the village there is also a shop and a bakery. The local super market is about a 5 minutes drive away.

During our stay we enjoyed the Velorail, a lake beach, paddle boats on the river and many rural towns and villages which we explored.

Just spent a great week at this lovely property which is much bigger than the photos suggest! We all enjoyed using the pool table for family tournaments and the swimming pool was great to cool off in during a week of fabulously hot weather. Plenty of sun beds and chairs to sit in the sun or shade and a good sized table for eating outside in the evening. The house was well equipped and comfortable and the owners very helpful with any queries. A very quiet location at the edge of a pretty village with bakery and restaurant 5 mins walk away. There is a safe separate pathway along the road and over the bridge - a very picturesque walk to get your morning baguettes looking at the beautiful River Vienne! Lots of pretty towns and villages such as La Rochefoucauld, Confolens and Rochechouart with markets, chateaus and shops to explore in the area. Confolens has an amazing festival of music with performers from around the world during August which is well worth a visit. We would recommend this property to anyone and really enjoyed our stay.

Lovely renovated property set in small village. House has all the facilities our family needed. including a pool table! Which our teenage kids enjoyed. Owner really helpful, friendly and quick to reply to any correspondence, a pleaseure to deal with. Local area had lots to keep us busy.

We had an absolutely fantastic time, already planning on going back. Owners were very helpful from point of booking to the moment we left. The property was far larger than we had expected and facilities even better than we had imagined. Very clean and we would have no hesitation in recommending this to all.
