About the Owner/Advertiser, Ms Roz Puliston

After many long years of loving France and dreaming of buying a home there, I finally bought one in 2006. I think you could say it was ‘love at first sight’. I simply fell in love with the house and I have found since, that many of my friends and holidaymakers too, have also been caught by its spell!
Bookings are now handled by Amanda from
Year property purchased 2006
Why this location? Poitou-Charentes is fortunate enough to enjoy a microclimate, with long, warm summers and mild winters. Average daily temperatures during mid-winter are a mild 9 to10 °C, whilst July and August temperatures exceed 25 °C. Poitou-Charentes is second only to the Cote D’Azur in terms of the annual amount of sunshine it receives (2250 sunshine hours).
Unique benefits of property The house sits in the French countryside overlooking vines and sunflowers. The village has its own little 13th Century Chateau and Church.

Things to do

This region is said to be the second warmest after the Cote Azure and certainly when the sun is shining you will find an incredible warmth which lasts late into the evening. The area is rich in Romanesque architecture and châteaux. Our village has its own small château and 13th century church. The house is well placed for visiting other regions. You could visit the vineyards of Bordeaux or St Emilion, the brandy houses in Cognac and Jarnac, the beach at Royan, a visit to La Rochelle, the 2000 year old cave paintings and much much more. You will find a plethora of information at the house which provides information about a multitude of things to see and do for all age groups. There are festivals organised throughout the year in and around the Charente. The local area also organises a programme of events throughout the summer holidays for children and adults and you are free to join in with any of the activities if you wish. I can obtain a programme and let you have a copy prior to your visit. Shopping at the markets is commonplace in France and you will find that you can buy fresh fish, mussels, scallops etc. from the fish market, a variety of cheeses from the cheese stall and fresh vegetables and flowers are in abundance. Again, I will provide further information before your holiday. Based around a restored water mill on the meandering Charente river, is Rejallant. Small beach, canoes, kayaks, evening concerts, children's playground, bar and restaurant. Les Trois Fontaines" a large bathing and fishing lake, with beach, set in beautiful natural surroundings of parkland and flowers. Futuroscope Theme Park Futuristic, multimedia, high-tech theme park which attracts visitors from all over Europe.
