|The Stables At Les Hirondelles||Self Catering||Flexible||2||2||1||Travel cot available for infants under 2|
Here at Les Hirondelles, we aim to provide a tranquil haven for couples who want to get away from it all and experience rural France at its' best.
The Stables is one of 2 gites on this site. Sleeping two people in a choice of a king-size or twin bedroom. Exposed stone walls and polished wood floors add to the rustic feel of the property. It is open plan living with bedrooms upstairs.
There is a private rear courtyard with tables/chairs and bbq, which is a fantastic sun trap during the day.
The 5m x 10m pool with Roman steps is heated via a heat-exchange pump throughout the summer, maintaining a comfortable 28 degrees. It is accessible via a security gate, and is completely enclosed by walling, which makes it a great area for sunbathing.
The pool is shared with the other gite onsite (if there are guests here at the same time).
Sunbeds and parasols are provided, and there are enough for everyone, so no reserving required!
There are various garden games provided, table football and badminton.
The property itself is gated, which gives added security.
On-site shaded parking is available.
Kitchen has a full oven/hob, dishwasher, microwave and undercounter fridge with freezer compartment. Full crockery/cutlery/pans and serving dishes are provided.
Equipped with sofa and 2 chairs. Flat screen television with Freeview English television, with HDMI ports. iPod docking station. Dvd player.
There is also an outdoor Bluetooth speaker for use, so you can take your music outdoors, but please be mindful of other guests.
King sized bed in the main bedroom and 2 single beds in the additional bedroom.
Both have wardrobes, bedside tables and lamps.
Huge walk-in shower with toilet and washbasin.
Only available in the winter months, for which there will be a charge (metered).
Table football, garden games, badminton, dartboard.
Courtyard to rear with seating and bbq area. Front area is currently lawned and has further seating. Well stocked garden.
Private undercover parking (which is a must in the summer months).
Not practical for those with wheelchairs, as the bedrooms are upstairs.
Internet Access: As this is rural France our internet connection speed does not reflect the experience you could ordinarily expect at home. We have found that most mobile packages provide a faster connection speed. Therefore since the removal of EU data roaming charges we no longer offer an internet access facility on site. We hope to re-introduce this facility in the future when the national scheme to improve connection speeds is rolled out.
The tv's have HDMI ports, should you wish to watch any previously downloaded material.
My name is Karen and I moved to France in 2014 to run Gites. I am a Northern girl, born and bred in Leeds. I am married to Paul and we have our 'angel' India, who is a British shorthair silver tabby, and spends all of her days hunting "stuff".

|Why this location?||We chose this area of France as we have friends who moved here years ago and we fell in love with the Charente, it's weather and it's array of fabulous places to visit.|
|Unique benefits of property||The gites are beautiful, fully enclosed and set in a small hamlet of about 7 houses... it is so peaceful here, all you can hear are the occasional tractor and wildlife! Everybody who visits say how relaxing it is and don't want to leave. The pool is completely walled and south facing and there are plenty of sunbeds and parasols for everyone, so no getting up to put your towels on to reserve beds! We are ideally located for exploring the Charente, with Cognac 40 mins away, Angouleme 40 mins away,, Bordeaux approx 110mins away.. plenty to do for everyone. There is cayaking, paddleboarding, ,swimming within 20 minutes drive.|
Set on the river Charente, spend a day visiting this spectacular town with it's many cognac producing houses, including Othard and other well known brands.
20 minutes drive away
Fantastic restaurant set in Tusson, which is a ten minute drive.
A great test of a holiday home is how quickly you can relax and unwind. From the moment the front gates opened and we were met by our wonderful hosts Karen and Paul, we were made to feel incredibly welcome. The relaxed but attentive way they run things is a major reason why we were completely relaxed within hours. The long journey from North West England soon become a distant memory.
The quality of the gites is of the highest order. Everything you need is here. Superb, comfy beds, fabulous bathroom with a big walk-in shower and a very relaxing lounge.
The outside area and pool is as good as any resort hotel if not better and a great size for our teenage boys to spend lazy days in the sun.
As keen cyclists, Paul gave us some great tips on rides and places of interest.
The complex is perfectly placed with a town only a five minute drive away, with 3 superb restaurants within 10-15mins drive.
We have loved our week here, made even more special by the incredible hosts. Somewhere we have loved and will return to very soon.
Thank you for an amazing holiday.
Lovely to meet you and your family. Hope to see you next year and enjoy the rest of your holiday! X
A clean, well equipped and comforable gite in a quiet rural area. A perfect tonic after making some long drives to see friends. We were more than happy to laze by the gorgeous pool which our young son made every use of. Plenty of shops etc and things to see within a small radius if you want to drag yourself away from the pool area! Karen and Paul very helpful and unobtrusive hosts
Thank you. The review means a lot as we have put in a lot of work to make guests feel comfortable and relaxed.
Absolutely stunning gite. Clean, well maintained and equipped. The pool and grounds were second to none too! Set in a quiet an peaceful hamlet, I would highly recommend this holiday home if you are looking for a rural getaway in France.
