At the end of a winding lane leading through fields of maize and sunflowers in the summer months in the rolling countyside of the Charente near the Dordogne border, this beautifully restored spacious 300 year old farmhouse is set in grounds of over 5,200 square meters. There is a large shared pool in a secluded spot at the rear of the house also enjoying far reaching views. You will most likely have the pool to yourselves as our retired neighbours only use the house for their holidays.
Just 10 minutes away is Aubeterrre sur Dronne, listed as one of the prettiest villages in France, famed for its monolithic church where concerts and performances are held during the summer months. The nearby river Dronne has safe riverside beaches and leisure facilities, get dropped off with a canoe, enjoy lunch at a riverside restaurant and leisurely paddle your way back. Drive further into the Dordogne and see the amazing painted caves or the famous medieval town of Sarlat. Riberac the largest market town in the Perigord is only 20 minutes away. There are plenty of vineyards to visit or take an interesting tour of one of the Cognac Estates.
A 30 drive away is a large waterpark and 40 minutes away is an adventure centre for 4 years to adults offering mountain climbing, archery, tree top zip wires , kayaking and more.
Just 5 minutes away is an Anglo French golf and tennis club which you are welcome to use along with its useful crèche facilities.
If you enjoy good food the area has number of excellent restaurants to try along with a good choice of family restaurants. An experienced English babysitter is available by arrangement.

Having travelled and worked overseas we are now enjoying early retirement, dividing time between Spain, France and the UK.

Year property purchased 2005
Why this location? We had stayed with friends here and loved the unique location at the end of a lane, quite yet close to local facilities, restaurants and picturesque villages. We learned that La Ferme was to be sold and jumped at the chance to buy it knowing it would take an extensive search to find such a special property. In 25 years the properties have never had to be sold by estate agents.
We love cycling along the quiet lanes, walking the local trails, playing tennis with friends we have made and ejoying the local produce. If we have time after the DIY its great to just relax and enjoy the view.
Unique benefits of property The location is perfect, the house has been sympathetically renovated and modernised. The French farming neighbours are a real bonus offering friendship and help over the years.

Nice sandy shaded safe river beach with plenty of parking, volleyball nets, canoes for hire also a cafe. Makes a relaxing day out very popular with guests looking for a change from the pool.

Tennis and Golf at Manoir de Longeveau

A few kilometres away is a 9 hole golf course and excellent tennis courts.
You can arrange to play golf/tennis year round by contacting Longeveau.
They have a small pool, restaurant and creche you can make use of when available.
