About the Owner/Advertiser, Mrs Theresa Phillips

We have lived in France for almost 8 years having previously renovated a Mill House in Confolens in 2002 and purchasing our barn in 2005. Andy renovates properties and I have my own treatment room within our home for beauty therapy. We live in a tiny hamlet comprising of 10 houses and we have endeavoured to learn as much as we can about the French way of life, in order for us to try to fit into the community. As long as you attempt to speak some French, it is very much appreciated and welcomed.

Year property purchased 2005
Why this location? We used to own a watermill at Confolens which is 28km from Montrollet, which we renovated and sold. We very much like this area because we are only 2 hours from the seaside at La Rochelle and in the winter to go skiing at Super Besse in the Massif Central which is only 2 hours from here. The countryside is very much like that of England.
Unique benefits of property From the bedroom window of The Tower you will have magnificent views over the surrounding countryside. It is totally self sufficient being situated within 4 acres of woodland and garden and has a solar heated pool and summerhouse. We also offer evening meals to guests which can be convenient on arrival days when guests may not fancy cooking or going out to find a restaurant after a long day travelling. All the food that I cook is homemade and some of the produce is from our vegetable garden.

Places To Visit And Things To Do

Special interest holidays:
There are lots of leaflets/brochures available for places of interest.

Coast/Beach:
We are situated approximately 2 and a half hours drive from the beach at La Rochelle, but we do have some lovely 'man made' beaches with lakes situated within close proximity. These beaches are very clean and have various pedalos and boats for hire as well as restaurants and children's play areas. The nearest 'beach' to us is at Pressac, which is about 15km away, although there is a much larger beach/lake at Saint Pardoux, which is about 30km away.

Travel:
We are situated 30mins from Limoges airport and a 5 hour drive from La Havre.

Distances:
Our nearest village is Montrollet, which is 2km away and has a bar/restaurant overlooking the lake. The market town of St Junien is a 10 minute drive away and features various supermarkets and retail outlets as well as some very interesting shops in the centre of town. Every Saturday morning there is a market and every 3rd Saturday of the month there is a very large market taking up most of the town. The city of Limoges is less than 30km away and is well worth a visit.

Further Details:
We have a large selection of leaflets available, which include places of interest as well as activities for children. Oradour Sur Glane is a village preserved since 1944 when the SS invaded and is only 8km away, but is worth a visit. A visit to Bellevue near Limoges is for all of the family and features train rides, mini safari, toboggan rides, mini-golf, carting etc.
A must is a cycle ride on the Velo-Rail either from Confolens or Bussier-Galant taking you through some wonderful landscapes at your own speed.
The Aquarium du Limousin in Limoges is fascinating for all the family with over 2,500 species of fish! Horse riding is available at Brigueuil, which is 8km away either for the experienced or beginner with randonnees through the forest.
Canoe and kayak trips along the river Vienne can be arranged.
