Each gite is completely separate from one another and the owners' accommodation so high levels of privacy can be enjoyed. There is an excellent, in-ground, full-depth, secure 12 x 6m pool with outstanding views of the stunning countryside.
Saturday changeovers in July and August, otherwise flexible.
The south of the Charente, bordering the Dordogne, offers beautiful countryside, a wonderful sunny climate and an opportunity to see France at its best. The quiet lanes are ideal for touring around by car, bicycle or on foot to explore the countryside, historic villages and towns, the lakes and the authentic local character such as markets, good restaurants, vineyards and cognac distilleries. Chez Sarrazin provides an excellent base to explore the many attractions of the Charente and Dordogne. It is a short distance from the village of Brossac with its old stone houses set around the 12th century church. There is a good range of facilities including restaurants, tennis and bocce courts, bakeries, grocery stores, a pharmacy and a butcher. A tourist office is located in the town hall. The pretty town of Chalais, dominated by its 16th century castle, is located 10 minutes drive away and has many shops and a supermarket as well as a colourful and lively market on Monday mornings. One of the highlights of the summer is an international show and during the year there are concerts and exhibitions in the castle and its gardens. Also within easy reach is Aubeterre-sur-Dronne which boasts an exceptional cultural heritage which, combined with its beautiful natural surroundings and the famous French “art de vivre”, makes it the perfect place to visit. Officially listed as one of The Most Beautiful Villages in France it has welcomed tourists, visitors and pilgrims on their way to Spain for over 1000 years. Visitors today can enjoy meandering through the narrow streets, popping in to admire the many specialist shops, including a leather worker and potters, and then settling down in the village square at one of the cafés or restaurants, comfortably shaded by ancient lime trees. Also within easy reach are: Royan on the Atlantic coast; Bordeaux, the historic and cosmopolitan city; St Emilion and Cognac, known worldwide for their famous wine and cognac; Périgueux; Bergerac; Riberac with its famous weekly market; Poitiers with the famous Futuroscope and the Vallée des Singes monkey park; and Angoulême, the walled capital of the Charente with shopping boulevards and historic buildings.
The open kitchen is fully equipped, has a gas cooker with electric oven, microwave, fridge and dishwasher and a dining table with 6 chairs. A welcome pack of essential supplies is provided.
Separately, there is a washing machine in another building. The gite has its own drying line, airer, pegs, iron and board.
The main room is large and benefits from exposed beams, rustic fireplace and a large wood-burning stove. The furnishings are comfortable and there is a TV with UK satellite channels and a dvd player.
There are 3 bedrooms in the main gite which can sleep up to 6 people. (There is also a separate annex with a double bedroom and private bathroom that can be rented by separate agreement) The Garden Bedroom has patio doors to the garden, the Stable Bedroom is a rustic room with access via a few steps. The Breadoven Bedroom is also accessed via a few steps and features a sitting area in the old bread oven; it has a double bed. The other bedrooms have 2 single beds which can also form a double bed as requested when booking. The Garden Bedroom can accommodate a cot.
The bathroom has a shower, basin and wc. Bed linen, bath and kitchen towels are included in the price. Pool towels can be hired.

We are Sarah and David and moved to France in early 2015 to 'start a new life'. Previously, we ran our house in Devon as a highly successful B&B and do hope that we can continue to provide the same high level of service to our gite guests in France as we did in the UK! Between us we have 6 children and a growing number of grandchildren who we expect will be visiting us very regularly for long family holidays. We look forward to welcoming you to France too!

|Why this location?||Sarah likes nothing better than a hot and sunny climate and as Nouvelle Aquitaine is the second sunniest region in France, she is now in heaven. The area is just stunning having the most beautiful rolling country-side, historic towns, villages, chateaux and outstanding food and drink. This is truly the centre of the wine, cognac and pineau world - yum! Chez Sarrazin also offers us peace and quiet in its rural setting but just a mile from the lovely village of Brossac with its shops, restaurants and facilities.|
|Unique benefits of property||In trying to find the perfect property, we wanted to have our own space. So many gite properties we saw were all side-by-side in a single converted building. The beauty about Chez Sarrazin is that both of our family-friendly gites are each very private and are separated from the main house. The small and intimate campsite is quietly located in a valley below the property so everyone enjoys peace and privacy. And, we are just a 25-minute stroll to a lovely village with 3 good restaurants. Lastly, the swimming pool and its adjoining garden are truly magnificent with wonderful views across rolling Charente countryside.|
