We stayed here on our way back from Spain on a road trip. What a find!! Peaceful, relaxing, beautiful scenery and wonderful hosts. The pool looked superb but sadly it was a little chilly for a dip.The accommodation is exactly as on the website which is unusual, spotless and full of character. The surrounding country is unspoilt and a joy. Great driving roads and so much to see and do if we had the time. Thank you Cath and Kevin.
If you want a relaxing holiday in a beautiful rural setting - then this is the perfect place for you.
Chez Durandeau is a comfortable, well equipped house with comfortable beds and a lovely large swimming pool where you can while away the days. Chalais has everything you need and a couple of local restaurants provide delicious and reasonably priced meals.
Cath and Kevin are great hosts and make you feel very welcome.
Cath & Kevin were fantastic hosts very friendly and helpful, at the same time giving us space to enjoy the property. The house is lovely and just as described on the web site, it has a nice split between joint living around the kitchen and separate lounges for time when peace and quite is needed! The house was very comfortable and clean with sufficient clean linen/towels. The pool was excellent and Kevin kept it very clean throughout our stay and the outlook from the garden is fantastic, especially at sunset.
The area around Chalais is very beautiful, we would recommend visiting the Chateau in Chalais but you will need to pre-arrange the tour but it is worthwhile especially as the guide is very entertaining. Would also highly recommend a visit to Aubeterre and Saint Emilion, both extremely pretty places. To get the most out of the area you do need to be prepared to travel, for instance Saint Emilion is an hours car journey away.
We would definitely recommend this property for people who like the peace and quite of rural locations.
Chez Durandeau is sheer bliss for those in need of a little peace and tranquillity. The restorative power of the verdant country side and soothing splash of the swallows as they dance in and out of the beautiful pool is a balm for any weary soul.
With two teenagers just finished GCSE and A Levels respectively we were all in need of a proper break and we found it in Chez Durandeau.
A warm welcome greeted us from our lovely hosts Cath and Kevin who were there to help if we needed but otherwise allowed us to enjoy the delightful Chez Durandeau in peace perfect peace.
