The canoeing centre is based at Exideuil and is just under a 10 minute drive from us. The session is approximately 2.5 hours and the organisers will pick you up at your finishing point at Manot and take you back to your vehicle at Exideuil. The owners also run the bar/restaurant there, so why not finish off the day with a refreshing drink and perhaps a bite to eat.
The medieval town of Confolens is approx 20 mins away and is famed for its folk festival in August where artists from around the world come to perform in the towns cobbled streets.
For anyone with an interest in history, we recommend a visit to the war memorial at the town of Oradour sur Glane. On 10 June 1944, the idyllic French village of Oradour-sur-Glane was completely destroyed and 642 innocent men, women and children were massacred by soldiers in Hitler's elite Waffen-SS army. The ruins of the martyred village have been preserved exactly as it was left as a reminder of German barbarity.
Aerial adventure park where children and adults walk, swing, zip wire and climb between trees. A great family day out.
Approx 1 hour away - a great day out, discover the largest concentration of chimpanzees in Europe. Discover what goes on behind the scenes at the Valley as various exhibits show you what happens when a new monkey arrives, teach you about their everyday routine, and discuss research conducted at this site. There is a mini-farm too, where the children can pet goats and sheep. Game and snack areas.
A large leisure lake with a beach where you can swim or hire a pedalo. There are also walks and cycle tracks around the lake and various cafes.
Approx 1.5 hour drive but definitely worth it. Brantome is an idyllic village located to the north of Perigueux on the banks of the River Dronne. The town is known locally as the Venice of Perigord. Wooded cliffs loom up behind the beautiful Benedictine abbey and the river Dronne runs around the village in front of a Benedictine Abbey. There is a small weir and a lovely and unusual right-angled stone bridge to add to the beauty of the scene. During a walk around the rest of the small village of Brantome you can see various examples of medieval and renaissance architecture. The town also boasts a selection of good restaurants including the Michelin starred Moulin de l’Abbaye. Market day is Friday in Brantome
Calling all vintage and classic car lovers - The Circuit des Remparts is held in Angouleme (approx 50 mins away) in September where vintage and classic cars are shown then raced

A picturesque Chateau town on the river Tardoire. An impressive sight from the outside, you enter the castle between two imposing round towers. Inside, particular highlights include a grand spiral staircase, the inner courtyard with three tiers of arcades, and various other decorative features and carefully furnished rooms. As a bit of fun you can also dress up in period costume.
