Our dream of living in France finally came true when my husband Stuart and I moved to France in February 2018 to take over the running of three gites in a quiet hamlet in South West France. We love the outdoor lifestyle that rural living has to offer and for us we also now have the perfect jobs in making sure our guests have a happy holiday. We live on-site and are more than happy to interact as much or as little as our guests would like and are always on hand if needed.

Charente is one of the most attractive areas in SW France with its gentle rolling scenery. It is reputed to be the second sunniest area of France (only surpassed by the Cote d’Azur) It is full of wonderful old towns, which are great places to visit on a day out. Such as Confolens with its old bridge straddling on the banks of the River Vienne, Montbron, historic La Rochefoucauld and Ruffec.
The capital Angoulême dates back to the 6th century AD and is a place full of history with its old town walls, magnificent cathedral and winding cobbled streets.
Dotted with châteaux large and small, public and private, well maintained and crumbling. The best known is the large château at La Rochefoucauld, ancestral home of one of Frances best known aristocratic families.
We stayed in Maison Cogulet for 5 nights. Our hosts Kirsten & Stuart were very welcoming and did everything to assist us as they live close by.
The gite had everything to make our stay completely comfortable. Although we did not have time to sample the on-site facilities of the pool/garden area and games area they looked very inviting.
The location is ideal with fantastic views of the surrounding countryside although only a 5 minute drive to the lovely town of Chabanais with all it's facilities.
We would not hesitate to recommend Kirsten and Stuart's gite to all age groups.
Many thanks for your lovely review. It's so good to hear that you liked our gite and it's rustic charm. Likewise you and Jackie were the perfect guests and it was great to meet you both.
