Nos Reves is part of a traditional Charentaise house nestled on the banks of a tributary of the River Charente. The house is completely private with its own entrance, parking, swimming pool, terrace and bbq.
The property is situated amongst the rolling vineyards that are used to make the world famous Cognac and Pineau de Charente. Cognac, Angoulême, Rouillac and Jarnac are the main local towns and all within a 20 minute drive.
The house, larger than most other gites, has been luxuriously appointed with high quality fixtures and fittings from deep duresta sofas to Italian tiled bathrooms.
Nos Reves has a ‘feel’ to it which engenders relaxation and comfort. Don’t take our word for it, read what previous guests have said.
The kitchen is fully equipped with all the modern gadgets and appliances one would expect to find in a high quality property. Crockery and cutlery is V&B; wine glasses are Lead Crystal and we ask you not to place these into the Bosch dishwasher.
Double doors from the kitchen lead into the large and spacious dining room with a beautiful oval shaped glass dining table which comfortably seats six.
Two sets of French windows lead from the dining room directly on to a raised terrace that overlooks the river running by the property. Understated but elegant is how one visitor described the dining room which they also said was larger than their lounge at home.
Stairs and double doors from the dining room lead to an even larger lounge!
Relaxing, luxurious, sophoriphic is how the large lounge has been described. Large frenchdoors overlook but do not allow access to the property’s private pool which is for the sole use of guests and is not shared with anyone else.
A large dark wood floor to ceiling book case holds a large collection of books to escape into whilst snuggled down in one of the 2 very large deep and comfortable sofas. Alternatively you can watch UK tv programs or just listen to music on the mini hi-fi or just use your own music collection through the installed wi-fi.
We believe the lounge is perfect for family and friends to relax with a chilled glass of Pineau and to hold long and meaningful conversations and then wonder where the time went!
We have colour coded the bedrooms of which the Gold room is probably the most romantic with its double aspect overlooking the swimming pool and the river. The bedroom has a built-in wardrobe and a beautiful ornate gold large double bed which is very comfortable . The en suite has a walk in shower, loo and sink and is finished with floor to ceiling Italian tiles.
The Lilac bedroom has a large built-in wardroom; a French window that overlooks the swimming pool and traditional French furniture. The colour scheme creates the perfect environment for complete relaxation and like the Gold room has its own en-suite with walk-in shower, loo and sink.
The Blue room overlooks the swimming pool and property entrance and is set up as a twin room with twin beds. It has a double fitted wardrobe and distressed furniture. The en-suite has a bath to provide the option to soak and relax in the tub at the end of the day.
All bedding and towels are changed weekly. Pool towels are not provided.
All 3 bedrooms have their own en suite bathrooms. Two with walk-in showers and one with a bath and a shower attachment.
The bathroom furniture is modern, fresh and clean and the bathrooms are floor to ceiling tiled in Italian tiles that match the bedrooms.
All bathrooms have a wall mounted mirror and shelf space to accommodate toiletries.
There is also a downstairs toilet with washbasin.
Heating, if required, is provided via thermostatic controlled radiators in all rooms.
The large lounge has a tv that shows UK programs and a mini hi-fi system. The property also benefits from having wi-fi.
The private pool seems to also provide endless hours of entertainment for guests!
The pool surround is paving and timber decking. There is a modern brick constructed bbq on the east side of the property.
The heat tends to be the main factor that governs what outside space is used. The east facing terrace is often used for lunch if the sun is too hot to sit at the table on the decking area by the pool. The terrace is also used at night by adults if young children are upstairs asleep.
The terrace gets full sun and unless under a parasol there is not much shade on the south side of the house. Whilst there is not a large outside space the owners do have plans to extend and make available more space on the north side of the property.
The property has its own private parking with enough room for a maximum of 3 cars. The parking is secure with the property being at the very end of the village.
We have visitors all year round and although the accommodation sleeps six the dining facilities will comfortably cater for more.
We are a family of 4, with 2 cats and 3 chickens at home in the UK. We have always loved France, my Dad was a teacher so I was brought up with the school French assistants living at home with us so I had a very early introduction to France and French life!!<br/>I introduced my partner Bankie to France shortly after we met and as he loved it too we decided to buy a home from home.<br/>We are very family oriented and enjoy socialising and entertaining. Cooking and eating are our main hobbies.

|Why this location?||When we started looking for a property in France we were advised by some good French friends of ours where to look to find beautiful untouched landscapes close to places of interest and not too far from the coast. They recommended the Poitou Charentes and we quickly found a house that we literally fell in love with. A true ‘coup de coeur’.
The location offers the benefit of a semi-rural setting, surrounded by cognac vineyards, a wonderful selection of activities and a full range of close amenities from bakeries to supermarkets and bi-weekly local town markets.
It is less than 1 hour west to the beautiful Grand Cote - including the famous La Palmyre Zoo - 1 hour north to the verdant Mariais Poitevin and the Vallee des Singes and 1 hour south to the Bordeaux vineyards.
We are ideally situated for autoroute access, train travel and within 1 - 1.5 hours of three airports - Bordeaux, Poitiers and La Rochelle.
Situated in a small village the location is semi-rural, peaceful but alive.

We have carefully created a villa that blends into the surroundings, providing a haven of tranquility and relaxation.
Michelin starred restaurant at Bourg-Charente by the side of the beautiful Charente river.
Highly recommended for a special night out. Fabulous food and a wonderful setting.
