Villa Anglade is a spacious old 19 century farmhouse (180 sq mtrs). The property has been extensively renovated to a very high standard and offers guests every comfort and convenience whilst at the same time maintaining its old world charm. Particularly attractive features of the house are its exposed oak beams, chestnut floors, cut stone fireplace, open stonework walls and comfortable modern furnishings.
The house comfortably sleeps 8 adults in 2 large double bedrooms and 2 twin rooms. In addition, an infants cot can be provided in one of the twin bedrooms. With one double bedroom and a bathroom located on the ground floor the house is suitable for handicapped or disabled people. The main living room is open plan comprising a large fully equipped kitchen and dining area as well as a large living area.
Two sets of frenchdoors lead onto a large tree shaded back terrace which is ideal for outdoor dining, barbecues or jut taking a respite from the midday sun. Meanwhile, the 10mtr x 5mtr pool, set in the footprint of an old barn just in front of the main house, is the perfect place for a cooling plunge or simply soaking up the sun. (The pool may be shared with a maximum of four other guests staying at Le Nid).

In the living area there are two 2 seater sofas and one 3 seater. Flat screen tv with French channels and many European free to air sites including BBC and ITV.
Downstairs: one double bedroom and one bathroom. Although not specifically designed as a house for people with reduced mobility, with a downstairs bedroom and bathroom, many people of reduced mobility have stayed in the house before (the downstairs bathroom does not have a walk-in shower but rather an in-bath shower).
Upstairs: three bedrooms, one double and two twin rooms.

With 2 four bedroomed houses and 1 two bedroomed house, L'Anglade is ideally suited to either individual families or extended family groups of up to 20 people.
Over 3 acres of gardens for the kids to play in. Ideal for family get togethers. We also offer flexible arrival/departure dates with a minumum stay requirement of just three nights (other than high seson when the minimum stay is 7 nights)
Food lovers are well catered for in the area. We are very fortunate to have an excellent restaurant in the local village called Les Bistrot des Halles which serves food of the highest quality and extremely reasonable prices. There is also a very good restaurant in the neighbouring town of Montmoreau called, Le Bistroquet. For finer dining there is the Chateau in Chalais (which after a numer of years in the doldrums appears to have found its way one more) and in Aubeterre, one of our favourites, Le Hostellerie de Perigord. La Taverne and Le Cochon Prieur, also in Aubeterre are also worth a visit. Finally, Le Poirier, in Bardenac,an old fashioned French country restaurant, offering fantastic homely fare (lunch only) is a must do.
Wines lovers will not be disappointed in the area as we are located only a 45 minute drive from the heart of some of France's best known wine regions such as St Emilion and Pomerol, and Fronsac. An hour's drive will bring to the heart of the Bordelais region.
For the kids, kayaking on the river Dronne at Aubeterre has proved very popular with many of our clients as has tree climbing at Accrobranche at St. Aulaye and the adventure park Poltrot in Nabinaud. There are also man made beaches at Aubeterre and Etaing Valier in Brossac.
Other interesting things to see and visit in the area include the Chateau in Chalais, the ancient seat of the Prince of Tallyrand, the fortified chateu in Villebois Lavalette and last but not least, Chateau de la Mercerie, known as the Versailles of Charente which is perhaps one of the most unusual follies one could ever see - the most impressive 220m long facade of a chateau with effectively noting behind the facade!
A must see when in the area is the monlithic church in Aubeterrre. The church dates to the 12th century and is largest such church by volume in Europe.
