After quitting our jobs to explore Europe in our motor home we decided after nearly seven months on the road to make South West France our new home. After many months of searching we finally found the ideal property but with much more renovation work than we would have liked. After two years of very hard work we opened our little campsite and year 2019 the addition of our first gite. All of this could only be achieved with the help and support of our new neighbours, friends and the Maire.

|Why this location?||Grosbout is a peaceful hamlet in the commune of La Forêt de Tessé with a close knit community. Long hot summers, warm spring and autumn means outside dining is possible from April till the end of October. With no light pollution we have the most amazing clear night skies. We are surrounded by farm land and small woodlands. There are many picturesque villages around with beautiful stone houses and chateaux. The roads nearby are really quiet and ideal for walking & cycling, there is hardly any traffic. All the tranquility of the countryside but shopping, markets, restaurants and supermarkets are only 10 min drive away. Swimming lakes and river swimming are about 10 mins drive away. The N10 motorway that leads down to Spain is 10 minutes away making this an ideal stop to break up a long journey. There are lots to see and do in the area without the crowds of tourists. Ideally located for days out to Cognac, La Rochelle, Angoulême etc.|

The different depths to the water makes it ideal for swimming for all age groups. What a gem of a place this is. We stayed in the self contained gite which was very clean, well maintained, well equipped as well as incredibly comfortable.
We have just enjoyed a week staying in the gite which contained a folder of useful information on where to shop, where to go to find activities and places to visit for a family, or a couple.
The hosts were lovely and were kind in giving us some of their home grown produce to sample. They were happy to chat and give us their advice about the local area and we spent a lovely evening looking up at the stars together. Our hosts really helped to make our holiday special. They were there if you wanted to speak to them but we’re not at all intrusive. They were very busy keeping the camping and gite are looking fabulous.
The facilities are great and the pool was large enough to have a swim in, well maintained and very clean. Mark was a trooper cutting the grass regularly to keep the surroundings looking great. We also had a walk around the hamlet and met some friendly natives.
We are very smitten with the site, France and this area.
10/10 from us.
