Aubeterre, St Emilion, Bordeaux, Cognac, Sarlat and the Atlantic coast are all within easy travelling distance.
The bright and airy accommodation comprises of huge open plan living dining area with exposed beams, large wood burning stove, large new curved tv, dvd, extensive library of dvds, books and games. Wi-fi is freely available. Extensively hand crafted fitted kitchen with range style cooker, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer, microwave and stable door to the rear. Newly built superb master suite with king size bed, feature original stone wall, large ensuite with free standing bath and separate shower, and dressing room. Laura Ashley furniture and curtains, Egyptian cotton bedding. Sleeps up to 10 in 3 double rooms on the ground floor, plus 2 loft style twin bedded rooms featuring hand made oak beds. Linen provided. One wet room, 1 en suite with bath & shower, additional separate toilet. Newly decorated, stylishly and tastefully furnished throughout. Generous welcome basket on arrival. Private floodlit swimming pool (8x4m) and terrace with sun loungers & parasols. New terrace running across the back if the house, perfect for watching the sun go down with a bbq.

Huge open plan living/dining room, with feature stone fireplace, exposed beams and mezzanine display area. Large new curved tv and dvd, extensive selection of dvd's, books and games. Antique stripped pine joiners chest serves as both additional seating and storage. There are squashy sofas and a huge Laura Ashley table with 2 carver chairs and 6 other chairs! Additional chairs available. Sat in the corner of the dining area is a huge tree trunk sparkling with fairy lights in the evenings.
Sleeps 10 in 3 ground floor double rooms, and 2 loft style twin bedded rooms upstairs, featuring hand crafted oak beds, accessed by steep wooden staircase. The newly built superb master suite comprises of king size bed, large en suite with free standing bath & separate shower cubicle, dressing room and original feature stone wall. Laura Ashley furniture & curtains, Egyptian cotton bedding. The second double room is to the front of the house and features a heavy metal bed & stripped pine furniture. Both these rooms have oak flooring and underfloor heating. The third double room is just off the main living area, it has a cream bedstead & co-ordinating bedside cabinets, and tall chest of drawers. The 2 loft style bedrooms feature hand crafted twin beds, stripped pine floors and furniture. The unique curtain poles are made from branches found in the woods.
The main bathroom is a wet room, with stone sink, toilet and large glass screen across the shower. The en suite has a free standing bath, separate shower cubicle, twin stone sinks, and lovely views of the fields. There is also an additional toilet off the main hall.
There is underfloor heating in the rooms through the huge oak door, there is also a heated towel rail in the wet room. The wood burning stove very quickly heats up the living area. There is a generous supply of good logs, just outside the front door.
The private floodlit pool is just perfect to while away your day, alternating between the pool and sun loungers! There is a lovely circuitous walk down to the village, bikes can be hired and delivered straight to your door. Canoeing/kayaking can be done from Aubeterre, golf is just a few minute drives away, many of the pretty local villages are well worth a visit.
The private floodlit pool is our most popular outdoor feature, there are sun loungers and other garden furniture to chil after your swim. The pool is alarmed in accordance with French law. Boules and croquet are available for use, a children's play area is at the bottom of the garden.
There are apple, pear, fig and kiwi trees and plenty of shady areas to sit.
There is parking for 3 cars, there is no garage but there is a large log store which provides shelter when watching the spectacular summer storms! We ask guests to kindly please keep the lane clear in case the farmer should need to get through.
The house is not suitable for wheel hairs, sorry. The house is ideal for adults and children though.
After many years of holidaying all over France we finally took the plunge & bought our very own gite! That was 14 years ago and we have never looked back! We love the peace & tranquility, the beautiful landscapes, the beguiling local villages and of course, the sunshine and wine! Paul is never happier than chortling along on his sit on mower!

Restaurant run by Soline and Florian, dynamic couple who produce an appetising home cooked menu at reasonable prices. Charming and welcoming at all times. The interior is light, cool and well appointed. Plenty of space inside as well as on the lovely terrasse area with stunning views.
Just a few mins drive away, Le Manoir de Longeveau is a former Cognac estate, lovingly restored and tastefully converted to now offer golf, tennis, heated swimming pools, children's pool, play areas, children's club Bar and restaurant.
Officially listed as one of Les Plus Beaux Villages de France, is just a few min drive from our house. At the centre of the village is a lovely square filled with shops, restaurants and an atmospheric Marche on a Sunday morning. A visit to the underground Monolithic Church of St Jean is a must, a very interesting, unique building. Lovely to just wander in, many streets are filled with artisans making and selling pottery and other crafts.
Based in Aubeterre, hire a canoe or kayak for a fun day sailing down the river. Can do as much or as little as you choose with courses of differing lengths.
Many cycling routes with differing levels of skills needed. Take a picnic and make a day of it! We can arrange bike hire for you, bikes delivered to the door.
Situated in Magnac Lavalette, just a few km from the house.
After being abandoned for almost 30years there has recently been a programme of restoration here. The facade is 220m long.

This Historic city centre with more than 2km of intact ramparts, was a fortified town for a long time. Many interesting churches, good number of shops and cafes in the open squares and pedestrianised streets. Every Sept the famous Ciruit des Ramparts takes place, the roads become a race track for vintage cars from far and wide.complete your visit with a stroll or boat trip along the banks of the Charente.
The village is best known for the imposing Chateau de Villebois standing on a raised promontory above the village. The old wooden market halles date back to the 16th century. Small Marche on a Sat am. Large SuperU supermarket and very good restaurant with tables under the Halles, Le Lavalette.
At its best on a Friday morning, market day for reputedly the biggest market in Perigord. Several good bars and restaurants, and canoe hire available by the river.
Attractive town, sometimes known as Little Venice. Nice mix of medieval and renaissance architecture. Canoes can be hired here. The Benedictine Abbey on the rivers edge is superb, the pretty mill and weir has now been turned into a splendid hotel and restaurant. Well worth a visit, approx 45 mins drive.
